Stanly County woman wins $1 million lottery prize
STANFIELD, N.C. () — A Stanfield woman won big with a scratch-off lottery ticket, according to the North Carolina State Lottery Commission. Martha Ramos Melgar bought a 50X The Cash ticket for $10 at the Stanfield Express on West Stanly Street. Melgar could choose between a 20-year annuity of $50,000 or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the lump sum, taking home $394,500 after taxes. The 50X The Cash game launched in February 2024 with six $1 million top prizes. Melgar won the last prize of this round. She had two options. She could receive her prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the lump sum and after taxes, took home $394,500. The 50X The Cash game debuted in February 2024 with six top prizes of $1 million. Melgar won the last top prize, so the lottery will begin to end the game. South Florida woman wins $1 million prize playing Florida Lottery scratch-off game
A South Florida woman won a million-dollar prize surprise playing the Florida Lottery's 50X The Cash scratch-off game. Mary Mayers Johnson, of Deerfield Beach, chose to receive her winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000. Johnson bought her winning ticket at a Publix on SW 36 Avenue in Pompano Beach. The store will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling it. The $5 scratch-off game features more than $145 million in cash prizes, including 14 top prizes of $1,000,000. The overall odds of winning a prize are about 1 in 4. Scratch-off games made up about 74% of Florida Lottery ticket sales in its 2023-2024 fiscal year. They've generated nearly $19.80 billion for the state's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund. The Florida Lottery has contributed more than $48 billion to enhance education and sent over a million students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. Charlotte man is the first to win $1 million with this lottery ticket
CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte man won big with a new type of lottery ticket, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery. Christian Smith bought the lucky $10 scratch-off at the Sam's Mart on Johnston Road in Charlotte. He is the first to win the $1 million playing the 50X The Cash. Taylorsville woman wins $5 million scratch-off lottery prize Smith was given the option to receive an annuity of $50,000 for 20 years or a $600,000 lump sum.
