Elderly Wagga Wagga man dies after alleged assault in home

An elderly man has died three days after another man allegedly forced his way into a Riverina home and assaulted him and his 82-year-old wife. Emergency services responded to reports of a domestic incident at the home on White St in Bethungra, about 65km northeast of Wagga Wagga, about 9.30am on Saturday. Police allege a man forced his way into the home and assaulted the 84-year old man and his wife, who were both known to him, then fled the scene. A 51-year-old man was arrested at a home in Bethungra over the alleged assault. A crime scene was established and detectives began an investigation into the alleged assault. A 51-year-old man was arrested at a home on White St and was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station about an hour later. He was charged over the alleged assault and the matter is before the courts. Portaferry: Man charged with causing death of child hit by car
Police investigating a hit and run in County Down, in which a child was killed, have charged a 51-year-old man.A young boy, who was riding a scooter, was hit by a vehicle in the Strand area of Portaferry on Tuesday. He was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injuries. The man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, and other driving-related offences. He is due to appear before Newtownards Magistrates' Court on Friday.
