Here are the Montreal-area road closures on the weekend
Commuters looking to get into Montreal from the South Shore should be aware that the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel will be closed on the weekend, and the southbound lanes will be closed overnight.
These and other closures are planned in and around the city and drivers would be wise to use a Wase or other trip-planning app before leaving.
Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel (A-25)
Northbound
From Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the tunnel will be closed between exit 90 (R-132) on Highway 20 west in Longueuil and the access to Hochelaga Street in Montreal.
As a result, the following are default closures 30 minutes before:
The Route-132 east and west on-ramps (exits 89-N).
Access from l'Île-Charron Street.
Access to Île Charron channeled from the Marie-Victorin Boulevard.
Southbound
From Friday at 11 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m. and from Saturday at 11 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m., the tunnel will be closed between exit 4 (Souligny Avenue, downtown) - Friday night to Saturday- and exit 5 (Sherbrooke Street) - Saturday night to Sunday - between Montreal and Route-132 in Longueuil.
As a result, the following closures will be in effect 30 minutes before:
Access via Sherbrooke, Tellier and des Futailles streets.
Eastbound lanes of Souligny Avenue, between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand.
As of Monday at 5 a.m., the renovated tunnel will reopen.
Honoré-Mercier bridge (Kahnawake)
From Friday at 10 p.m. to Saturday at 5 a.m.. the Route-138 (from Châteauguay) ramp to Montreal will be closed.
From Saturday at 10 p.m. to Sunday at 5 a.m., the Route-138 west (from Montreal) ramp to Châteauguay will close.
From Saturday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. the Route-138 west (from Montreal) ramp to R-132 east / La Prairie will close.
René-Lévesque Boulevard West (Montreal)
From Friday at 7 a.m. to Sunday at 7 p.m., three of four lanes will be closed on René-Lévesque Boulevard West between Saint-Alexandre Street and Place Phillips.
Bridge Street (Montreal)
On Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. one of two northbound lanes on Bridge Street will closed in the southwest borough.
On Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., one of two southbound lanes will be closed.
REM light rail line
The network is closed every Saturday and Sunday in May.
Shuttles will be available.
Bonaventure Highway (A-10) / Nuns' Island
The Nuns' Island exit (5) off the Bonaventure Highway (A-10) east towards the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge is closed until the end of May.
A detour is in place.
One lane will be open in both directions on the Bonaventure Highway (A-10) in the Clement Bridge area until December.
