9-1-1: Nashville is filling out its ranks with four new cast additions: Hailey Kilgore (Power Book III: Raising Kanan), Michael Provost (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Juani Feliz (Harlem) and influencer Hunter McVey have all joined ABC's 9-1-1 offshoot in series-regular roles, TVLine has learned. Kilgore, a Grammy and Tony Award nominee, will play firefighter Taylor, who also happens to be an incredible singer; Provost will play modern-day cowboy Ryan, also a firefighter; Feliz will play former trauma surgeon (and current adrenaline junkie) Cammi; and McVey will play a haunted bad boy who has since become a firefighter. These four actors join an ensemble cast that already includes Chris O'Donnell (NCIS: Los Angeles) as devoted family man Don Sharpe, 'a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville's busiest firehouse with his beloved son,' and Jessica Capshaw (Grey's Anatomy) as Blythe Sharpe, Don's wife who is also heavily involved in the horse racing business. Country singer LeAnn Rimes and Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Nashville) have also been cast in undisclosed roles. Though a specific series premiere date has not yet been announced by ABC, we know that 9-1-1: Nashville will air Thursdays at 9/8c this fall, sandwiched between new episodes of 9-1-1 at 8 pm and Grey's Anatomy at 10 pm. Chris O'Donnell Reveals Nixed Plan to Rescue NCIS: LA's Hetty, Previews His 9-1-1: Nashville Spinoff Role — WATCH
Though he has been busy booking and prepping for a lead role in ABC's Nashville-set 9-1-1 spinoff, Chris O'Donnell has gotten wind of the recent developments in his NCIS: Los Angeles character's life. TVLine spoke with O'Donnell on the blue carpet at Disney's recent Upfront presentation, and at the 1:30 mark in the video above, I ask if he had heard that NCIS: LA's Callen is now expecting a baby with wife Anna. John Oliver Urges ABC to Keep Doctor Odyssey, Mocks 'Premise-Defying' Season 8 Renewal for The Rookie Grey's Anatomy's Hot New Doc: Did Your First Impression Leave You Wanting Seconds? O'Donnell shares his reaction to the news of G's growing family, after which we talk about the other update we got via LL Cool J's recent NCIS visit — about Office of Special Projects boss Hetty Lange, who was MIA for much of the CBS series' final season and, per Sam Hanna, last was spotted on the wrong side of a DMZ. When I inform O'Donnell about NCIS: LA fans' desire for proper closure on the Hetty front, he lets loose about a TV-movie idea that he and others pitched at the time of the dual Hollywood strikes that came not long after the high-octane series' May 2023 finale. What brought O'Donnell to the Disney Upfront was his role in ABC's 9-1-1: Nashville, airing Thursdays at 9/8c this fall, and in which he plays Don Sharpe, 'a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville's busiest firehouse with his beloved son' (according to the official character breakdown). 'Don's a devoted husband and family man but he has his secrets.' At the top of the video above, O'Donnell shares the little he knows about thus far about Don — 9-1-1: Nashville doesn't start filming until June — but he does note some differences from NCIS: LA's Callen. In a separate video, below, glowing Grey's Anatomy alum Jessica Capshaw previews her own 9-1-1: Nashville role, as O'Donnell's TV wife Blythe, and whether she is up for some crooning and/or a little two-step once the series debuts this fall. 'The Rookie' Fans Demand ABC "Fix This" After Shocking Season 8 Change Is Revealed
The Rookie season 8 is officially in the works — but fans are not happy about a surprise update on when it's supposed to air. The ABC drama wrapped up airing season 7 in May, and fans have been wondering when they'll get to see more of the folks working at LAPD Mid-Wilshire. Well, ABC shared an upsetting update during the network's 2025 upfronts, revealing that The Rookie season 8 will premiere in midseason 2026. And if that wasn't enough, the network confirmed the news about The Rookie by posting a look at its official fall 2025 lineup on Instagram on May 13. "The fall you want with the shows you need," read the caption. While shows like Abbott Elementary, 9-1-1 and its spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville were all listed as shows airing this fall, The Rookie fans were not thrilled that the show wasn't on the lineup. As a result, they made sure to voice their frustration about the season 8 release date in the comments. "ABC why do you hate the rookie so much?" one person lamented. "You still have time to fix this and add the rookie back to the fall schedule," another agreed. "No it's not because you're holding the rookie until mid season again," a different follower added. Despite The Rookie season 8 not premiering until next year, TV Line did explain the reason behind the move. The outlet noted both The Rookie and Will Trent season 4 will air on ABC sometime in the winter of 2026, and each show will have "uninterrupted" 18-episode seasons instead of taking breaks if they aired in the fall. This also repeats a similar pattern both shows had in the winter of 2025, when The Rookie season 7 and Will Trent season 3 had a consistent episode schedule throughout. Even though it's going to be a bit of a wait, at least we know we'll get to see our favorite police officers back at work! ABC Chief Provides ‘Doctor Odyssey' Status Update
ABC's April renewals left one series on the bubble, Ryan Murphy's glossy freshman cruise ship medical drama Doctor Odyssey, starring Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson. A month later, that has not changed. Ahead of the Disney upfront presentation later today, ABC revealed its fall 2025 schedule, which features new spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville, also from Murphy, replacing Doctor Odyssey in the Thursday 9 PM slot. 'Ryan's really busy. He's doing a lot with us. 9-1-1, 9-1-1 Nashville, All's Fair [for Hulu]. So we're just continuing that creative conversations with him.' In the end, the decision likely will be Murphy's, Eric Schrier, President of Disney TV Studios whose division 20th Television produces all Murphy series, recently told Deadline. 'I really love Doctor Odyssey, I think it's a wildly inventive show, and we're doing everything we can to support it,' he said. 'That decision ultimately lies with Ryan Murphy, whether Ryan wants to continue to do it, and he feels like there's stories to tell that he feels confident in.' As for timing, the call will likely be made before the end of June when the options on the cast are set to expire. Doctor Odyssey, whose trailer set a record for a new broadcast series with 77.8M views in the first 48 hours, amassed 13.6M cross-platform viewers for the premiere in its first week. But the Love Boat homage has not been able to sustain the momentum throughout its freshman run. And with its slick production values and big stars, Doctor Odyssey is expensive to produce. Amid the uncertainty, the upcoming Season 1 finale has an ending that could serve as a series finale, sources said. Yep, Doctor Odyssey's Fate Is Still TBD — ABC Boss Explains Hold-Up
When it comes to whether Doctor Odyssey will set sail for a second season, it sounds like all interested parties are waiting on the ABC series' captain. Season 1 of the seafaring sudser has been averaging 4.8 million total viewers (with delayed playback), right on par with what Grey's Anatomy did in the Thursday hammock spot last year, and ranking No. 5 out of the 7 dramas ABC has aired this TV season. Ahead of the series' freshman finale (airing this Thursday at 9/8c), TVLine asked Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich where things stand with the network's renewal/cancellation decision, and when fans might expect one. As seen with the unveiling of ABC's game plan for the 2025-26 TV season, 'Doctor Odyssey is not on our schedule currently,' Erwich said. With an eye on the future, 'We're in talks with [series crearor] Ryan [Murphy], and we really look to him about what the next chapter might be.' Thing is, the Odyssey is not the only ship in the super-prolific Murphy's fleet. 'Ryan's extremely busy,' Erwich noted, with '9-1-1, [the upcoming spinoff] 9-1-1: Nashville… he's doing All's Fair [for Hulu], I know he's working on a bunch of shows for FX that they're really excited about, too….' Cancellation Anxiety! The 9 Broadcast Shows Still on the Bubble View List Disney TV Studios Chief Eric Schrier, in a recent interview with our sister site Deadline, similarly indicated that Murphy himself is the best person to offer a prognosis for Doctor Odyssey. 'That decision ultimately lies with Ryan Murphy,' Schrier said, 'whether Ryan wants to continue to do it, and he feels like there's stories to tell that he feels confident in.'Will this Thursday's finale leave viewers satisfied, should it wind up serving as a series finale? That is the buzz, though Erwich would not confirm as much when asked by TVLine. 'The [Season 1] stories we're really satisfying the way that Ryan drew them out,' Erwich said, 'but again, it's not on our schedule right now and we're continuing conversations [with Murphy].'
