‘Disturbing': Mrs Doubtfire star's wild plan to revive Robin Williams with AI

The idea came to Lawrence after watching one of Williams' old commercials. The actor, who died by suicide in 2014 at age 63, had done a computerised voiceover that Lawrence found eerily before its time. 'It's kinda like this very contemporary, modern, almost sort of foreshadowing of what's going on commercial that he did, where he did this computerised voiceover,' he said. 'And it always stuck with me. And then, during his passing, with the AI coming out, I'm like, 'Man, he's gotta be the voice of AI He's gotta be the voice in something.' So yeah, I would love to do that.' There's no denying Williams' voice is instantly recognisable. Hearing it again would likely spark nostalgia and joy for many. Still, using AI in a project like this raises serious concerns. Lawrence, clearly enthusiastic, suggested plenty of possibilities for Robin's voice in tech – even using it for driving navigation. 'It would be Robin!' Lawrence said. 'It would be so cool. I'm telling you.' Yelling at Siri or Alexa when you miss a turn is normal these days. But yelling at the voice of Robin Williams might come with some follow-up guilt. Williams' daughter, Zelda Williams, has publicly slammed AI recreations of her father. During the SAG-AFTRA strike in October 2023, she posted a statement on social media expressing her discomfort with the technology. 'I am not an impartial voice in SAG's fight against AI,' Zelda, 35, wrote. 'I've witnessed for YEARS how many people want to train these models to create/recreate actors who cannot consent, like Dad.' 'I've already heard AI used to get his 'voice' to say whatever people want and while I find it personally disturbing, the ramifications go far beyond my own feelings,' she continued. 'Living actors deserve a chance to create characters with their choices, to voice cartoons, to put their HUMAN effort and time into the pursuit of performance.' Lawrence was just a pre-teen when he played Williams' son in 1993's Mrs Doubtfire, and their relationship clearly made a lasting impression. At the first annual '90s Con in 2022, Lawrence shared how Williams – who struggled with substance abuse – warned him about the dangers of drugs during filming. '[Williams] was very serious. He was like, 'You know when you come to my trailer and you see me like that?'' Lawrence shared. 'He's like, 'That's the reason why. And now I'm fighting for the rest of my life because I spent 10 years doing something very stupid every day. Do not do it.' I stayed away from it because of him.' In an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lawrence reflected on two key lessons Williams taught him: the importance of compassion, and not judging others without walking in their shoes. 'He really quantified what it was to be a real artist for me in the sense that he was definitely,' Lawrence said, 'and I worked with some great people, and he was definitely the most brilliant artist I've ever worked with.'

Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber Spill on 1 Behind-the-Scenes Moment You Didn't See at '90s Con

Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber are recounting the moment from '90s Con the fans didn't see — when they locked themselves in a bathroom after Sweetin ripped the handle off the door. Speaking on their rewatch podcast, How Rude, Tanneritos! about a season 5 episode of Full House in which Joey grabs a doorknob and yanks it off the door completely, the two recounted the time they did the same thing. "You did it at '90s con," Barber said of Sweetin. "The bathroom." "I did," Sweetin interjected. Barber added that Sweetin "ripped the thing right off." "We couldn't get out of the bathroom," Barber said. "That's right, we were in there together, weren't we?" Sweetin said. "Yes, we had to wait for someone to come in so we could get out," Barber affirmed. "We were banging on the door from the inside. This was a Full House episode. We recreated it without even meaning to." Barber added: "We were like, 'Oh, crap, there's a press line right now. We're missing things.' " Fortunately, a staffer found the two and got them out, with Sweetin sheepishly letting them know what happened. "And they were like, 'What did you do?' And I just handed them the door handle. Like, I walked up to one of the people working there and I was like, 'Hi. I don't know where you want me to put this,' " she said. "So awkward — so on brand for you, Jodie Sweetin," Barber added. Sweetin added that the same thing happened on the set of a Lifetime movie she starred in. "I, like, shut the door, and it was an old house. So the door frame kinda it, like, wouldn't quite shut. And I was like, 'I can do it.' And I wedged it shut. And then that was it," she said with a laugh. Sweetin and Barber both appeared on the original show Full House, which aired from 1987 to 1995, and its follow-up, Fuller House, which aired from 2016 to 2020. The duo has said on their podcast they'd be open to another revival — but would need some time first. "We need some more time. It's too soon," Sweetin said on the podcast. "But I absolutely would do it. Again, if we could come back and like, finally, I feel like do that ridiculous sort of adult sitcom because then we would be... You know, give us another 15 years or whatever." Sweetin continued: "The kids that were watching Fuller House will now be the age, like, in their 20s with their own [kids], so I feel like all the generations would have moved up enough that you could do kind of a bawdy, Golden Girls-esque silliness of the three." The three would be Barber's neighbor Kimmy Gibbler, alongside Sweetin's Stephanie Tanner and her big sister D.J., played by Candace Cameron Bure. Read the original article on People

Iconic 90s actress gives rare update on life in Mexico five years after fleeing Hollywood

Rose McGowan has shared an update on her life in Mexico, where she's lived since she fled Hollywood during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. The 51-year-old actress — who rose to fame with roles in Scream and Charmed —flew back to the states for 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut. While chatting on a panel with former co-star Holly Marie Combs, Rose dished on how she's faring in Yucatán. 'My father lived in Mexico for 35 years. It is an incredible country. It is so wildly geographically diverse, culturally diverse and just very, very special. There's so much joy,' she stated, according to an account from People. She added, 'My favorite word in Spanish is alegría, which means joy, and there's so much of that there, and color and passion and fun.' The silver screen siren also described the Latin American country as 'just different.' Before leaving Hollywood for a more relaxed lifestyle, she had been a prominent voice in the #MeToo movement, which saw movie mogul Harvey Weinstein brought to justice for sexual violence against women. Looking back, Rose shared during the 90s Con conversation, 'I had to talk for a lot of years, kind of more than normal people might.' 'There's a point where I just got really talked out. I just wanted to listen,' she reflected, adding, 'I wanted silence, and I wanted to listen more than I wanted to talk.' The actress acknowledged that her move hasn't been all smooth sailing. 'There's things about it that are difficult, just like anywhere, and it's certainly a challenge sometimes, doing things when, at first, you don't really know the language,' she admitted. 'You're navigating a totally different system. You learn very quickly, though,' she noted. Taking to Instagram in May, where she engages 866,000 followers, McGowan uploaded a photo of herself wearing a leopard print mini dress in Guadalajara. On Thursday Rose posted an Instagram video driving a cart around Home Depot as she revealed a black boot on her foot due to some kind of injury. Appearing on The Dab Roast, she stated: 'I just got my permanent residency card from Mexico, and I'm so grateful to have it. This is a really healing land here and it is truly magical.' She had previously announced online, 'I'm in a place called Coba (on the Yucatan peninsula). 'I knew [Covid-19] was going to get really bad in America and I had a moment to figure out where I wanted to be. My lease was up in New York so I came here to Mexico where I'm living for a third of the price. It's beautiful here.' S

Rose McGowan quit acting career for 'silence' away from Hollywood, Entertainment News

Rose McGowan quit her acting career because she wanted "silence" away from Hollywood. The 51-year-old star played Paige Matthews on the hit series Charmed but moved to Mexico in 2020 after realising that she could do what her character did in terms of activism in her real life and wanted to "listen" to others. Speaking as part of a panel at 90s Con in Connecticut, she said: "My father lived in Mexico for 35 years and mi gusta Mexico. Te quiero much, mi amores. It is an incredible country. It is so wildly geographically diverse, culturally diverse and just very, very special. There's so much joy. "My favourite word in Spanish is alegria, which means joy, and there's so much of that there and colour and passion and fun and different... just different. And you know I had to talk for a lot of years, kind of more than normal people might. "At one point, you know, as Paige was a social worker and I was raised in a commune growing up in Italy to be kind of a volunteer, and I kind of thought, 'Well, I can also do this in real life. Away from this.' "There's a point where I just got really talked out. I just wanted to listen. I wanted silence, and I wanted to listen more than I wanted to talk." The Scream actress does find it a "challenge" to be living somewhere where she isn't fluent in the language but has always been of an "adventurous" nature and recently embraced the idea of going to the "most remote location" she could find. She said: "There are things about it that are difficult, just like anywhere, and it's certainly a challenge sometimes, doing things when, at first, you don't really know the language. You're navigating a totally different system. You learn very quickly, though. "I like adventure. I've kind of always been the adventurous sort. I always kind of lived in dense areas, so at one point I went to like the most remote location in this area in Mexico that I'm at. It was just me and my dog and a metal pipe for a shower. "That was it, and I was grateful, right? And the gratitude that you feel for smaller things, because you have to fight for them and you appreciate them!"
