Miley Cyrus' rarely seen age-gap boyfriend joins her mom Tish and sister Brandi at album listening party
Miley Cyrus ' boyfriend Maxx Morando made a rare appearance Tuesday night as he stepped out to support the singer at her star-studded album listening party. The Grammy winner, 32 — who's gearing up to release her ninth studio album Something Beautiful on May 30 — has been quietly dating the Lilly drummer since 2021. Maxx was seen leaving the Chateau Marmont with Miley after she delivered a fiery live performance previewing tracks from the upcoming record. With his signature long, curly black hair on full display, the musician took the wheel as Miley rode shotgun, chatting animatedly with an unidentified acquaintance in the back seat. While A-listers like U2's Bono, Rita Ora, and Anya Taylor-Joy were among the big names in attendance, Miley's mom Tish and sister Brandi also made the guest list — despite recent family tension. Miley Cyrus ' boyfriend Maxx Morando made a rare appearance Tuesday night as he stepped out to support the singer at her star-studded album listening party Maxx's public outing comes on the heels of his surprise cameo in the music video for Miley's latest single, End of the World. Despite keeping a low profile for most of their relationship, the couple has slowly become more visible in recent months. In March, Miley and Maxx made a rare red carpet appearance at the 97th Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood, later turning heads at the star-studded Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty. Just weeks earlier, the pair were also spotted in New York City attending the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special, and later, the Homecoming Concert — where they were joined by Miley's mom Tish. Their increasingly frequent public appearances have fueled speculation that the two may be ready to take their relationship to the next level — though neither has commented on what the future holds. And Cyrus has also been open about their six-year age gap and told Harper's Bazaar last year, 'He looks at life really differently than I do. 'He grew up with a laptop. I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and he's raised our dog off Reddit.' The Flowers hitmaker added, 'I'm like, "Are you sure we're supposed to be doing this?" And he's like, "On Reddit it says blah, blah, blah." He's very similar to me. We just don't take life too seriously.' The singer appeared to be surrounded as she cut through the crowd at Chateau Marmont Earlier this month, Miley out about where she stands with Tish and dad Billy Ray Cyrus, after months of speculation surrounding a rumored family rift. The pop superstar had found herself in the middle of ongoing drama—just a day earlier, she reunited with Billy Ray, who has stirred headlines with pointed social media posts and a whirlwind romance with actress Elizabeth Hurley. Meanwhile, Miley's mom Tish came under fire after fans noticed she had seemingly unfollowed her daughter on Instagram —a move she later denied. The moment followed Tish's own reconciliation with daughter Noah Cyrus after their much-discussed falling out. Miley took to Instagram to shut down the rumors and set the record straight. 'I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us,' Miley wrote in a statement on her Instagram Story. 'She's my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn't know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental and uninteresting.' Miley also addressed her relationship with Billy Ray, 62, acknowledging their rocky past but insisting they're in a better place now. The pop superstar has found herself in the middle of ongoing drama—earlier this month, she reportedly reconciled with Billy Ray, who has stirred headlines with pointed social media posts and a whirlwind romance with actress Elizabeth Hurley; (Billy Ray, Miley and Tish in 2019) 'My dad and I have had our challenges over the years,' she continued. 'Now, in my 30s, family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.' She ended her post on a hopeful note, writing: 'Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.' Miley also shared a heartwarming Instagram photo with her dad Billy Ray, as they came together to celebrate her brother Braison's 31st birthday. The father-daughter duo looked to be in great spirits during the family gathering. Speculation of a possible rift between Miley and Billy arose this year - and a few months earlier in March, a source told that she is worried her father could ruin her music comeback.

Palestinian behind Oscar-winning documentary arrested by Israeli army — co-director
By AFP - Mar 25,2025 - Last updated at Mar 25,2025 Israeli journalist and filmmaker Yuval Abraham, US producer Rachel Szor, Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal, Palestinian journalist and filmmaker Basel Adra (left to right) pose in the press room with the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature for 'No Other Land' during the 97th Annual Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on March 2, 2025 (AFP photo) JERUSALEM — The Palestinian co-director of the Oscar-winning documentary "No Other Land" was attacked by settlers and arrested by the Israeli army on Monday in the occupied West Bank, according to his co-director Yuval Abraham. In a post on X, Abraham said a "group of settlers" had set upon Ballal. "They beat him and he has injuries in his head and stomach, bleeding. Soldiers invaded the ambulance he called, and took him. No sign of him since," Abraham wrote. The incident took place in the southern West Bank village of Susiya, according to the anti-occupation NGO Center for Jewish Nonviolence, whose members said they filmed the events first-hand. The army said it was verifying the information when questioned by AFP. Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967. "No Other Land", which was directed by Israeli-Palestinian activists, won best documentary at this year's Academy Awards. Shot in nearby Masafer Yatta, the documentary follows a young Palestinian struggling with forced displacement as the Israeli army tears down his community's homes to make space for a firing zone. The Israeli army declared Masafer Yatta a restricted military zone in the 1980s. The West Bank, excluding Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem, is home to around three million Palestinians as well as nearly half a million Israelis who live in settlements that are illegal under international law.

I Rewatched Conan O'Brien's Oscars, And There Are 8 Perfect Moments That Make It Clear Why He Should Have The Mic Again Next Year
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The 2025 Oscars made history in its usual fashion, as the coronation of this year's winners has added another chapter to the history books. It also saw the show being hosted by first time emcee and late night comedy legend Conan O'Brien, which was a pretty brilliant hire. "How good was he?" you may be asking. Well, this golden comedy idol actually got me to decide to accidentally let the rest of the 97th Annual Academy Awards play while I was working. After rewatching the show, which is something I rarely ever do with The Oscars, I think that Mr. O'Brien should be allowed to host the show for as long as humanly possible. No, this isn't Stockholm Syndrome. Also, for the sake of readability and the man of the hour's sanity, I'll scale that back to asking that Conan O'Brien host the 2026 Oscars. To make my case, I have a bunch of perfect moments as proof of why it's the best choice. I promise I won't waste too much time on this point, but opening the Oscars is always key to setting the tone of the evening ahead. With a simple pre-taped joke involving The Substance, and a monologue that felt like classic Conan O'Brien magic, the night got off to an amazing start. Bonus points are also awarded for John Lithgow and Adam Sandler's scene-stealing participation in gags that only got funnier upon revisiting them. Who knew that Dune: Part Two's sandworm was such a musical genius? Not only can the massive beast from Denis Villeneuve's blockbuster adaptation play the piano, it can also play the harp. If Hans Zimmer doesn't tap the sandworm to help out with Dune: Messiah's score, it's a wasted opportunity. The Academy Awards are a live TV staple that bring the world together for a moment. For Conan O'Brien, that meant the perfect opportunity to bust out some fun language skills, which resulted in him begging for film work in China. It's another example of the former NBC/TBS host deploying a joke that felt like it came from the early days of his career, which I mean as only the highest form of compliment. Being a good host is knowing when to shine and when to let others outshine you. John Lithgow helped prove that point twice during the 2025 Oscars, but Nick Offerman's show-stopping shenanigans were just as golden of an opportunity to learn this valuable lesson. Questioning whether or not he was pressured by the night's responsibilities, the physical voice of America gave us all a moment of laughter that only made its oaken tenor all the sweeter. Former Conan writer Skyler Higley's Kendrick/Drake joke was the subject of a bet as to whether or not it would make it to air. Thankfully for him, and the rest of the world, that short and sweet punchline stayed - especially since Disney's exec VP of unscripted and alternative entertainment Rob Mills told Variety he knew the joke 'was going to kill' during rehearsal. Showing off not only his late night background but also a love of cinema, another pre-taped Conan O'Brien sketch involved a very targeted skewering of streaming services. As you can watch in the clip provided below, the idea 'of 'CinemaStreams' is something that might sound so familiar you'll bust a gut yourself: Rob MIlls from Walt Disney TV also commented on this joke, stating that the Killers of the Flower Moon director was more than happy to be a part of this satirical joke. One only needs two guesses why Martin Scorsese would participate in a joke about going back to the cinema, and one of them doesn't count. Addressing the very real tragedy of the L.A. wildfires was always going to be a sensitive subject. Too much reverence would have looked maudlin, and too little would have seemed callous - especially with repeated calls to cancel the 2025 Oscars. Between a somber, but respectful acknowledgement at the top of the show, and a segment where Los Angeles firefighters got to deliver jokes on stage, the heart of this year's ceremony was absolutely in the right place. Another reason I found myself revisiting the show was the fact that Hulu's accidental disconnection of The Oscars led to a lot of us missing out on Best Actress and Best Picture's announcements. In going back to see the moment myself, I was amazed how simply Conan O'Brien ended the evening. In totality, here's what he had to say once Anora won the night: Hey, congratulations to everyone. I had a blast. Good night! Take it easy! Throwing in his trademark salute and jump on stage to close out the night, it was a prime example of knowing your exit. In my opinion, there's two final honorary mentions that really seal the deal for Conan O'Brien's return for the 2026 Oscars. Since they're not TV moments, we'll have to turn to other reports about things such as Conan's sweet Oscar snack boxes. Complete with a note that joked about trying to include an edible, the man's talents weren't limited to merely a television broadcast. Now those of you who know Conan O'Brien absolutely understand that he loves to rope his writers into gags. Case in point: there is no Amazon-MGM executive named Steve Belsky, that was a role played by friend/writer Dan Cronin, as confirmed on his Instagram. However, that's not the gag I'm highlighting as the grand finale. Rather, it's the return of Conan's fake physician Dr. Arroyo that I feel really kept the fun going in a place where our Oscars 2025 live blog didn't touch: social media. You know him from Mr. O'Brien's memorable appearance on Hot Ones (played by actual comedian José Arroyo), but here's the good doctor attending to our host at his moment of need: It's rare that a host's energy is felt as extensively as Conan O'Brien's was during the 2025 Oscars. Delivering a show that only he and his collaborators could, Variety's report of a small ratings boost is part of the proof that Jeff Mills' unofficial offer to welcome him back should absolutely be cashed in. Of course, I'm a bit biased as a long-time fan that spans back to the Late Night with Conan O'Brien era. But can 19.7 million viewers really be that wrong? In this case, no, they cannot.

Oscars 2025 red carpet: Who was the best and worst dressed star at the Academy Awards? Cast your vote now
The 2025 Oscars red carpet was one for the books! After months of anticipation, the 97th Annual Academy Awards brought the biggest names in Hollywood to the red carpet of the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. When it comes to the Oscars red carpet, celebrities generally like to take big swings with their attire. After a long awards season, some stars saved their best looks for last, while others chose ensembles that dulled the shine of Hollywood's biggest night. From Demi Moore to Selena Gomez to Emma Stone and Michelle Yeoh, there was no shortage of star power on this year's red carpet. We scoured the red carpet for the biggest fashion hits and misses of the night — and we want Yahoo Canada readers to have their say. Keep reading to cast your vote for the best and worst dressed star at the 97th Annual Academy Awards. We'll reveal who our readers chose as the winner — and loser — tomorrow! Moore has been knocking it out of the park on the red carpet ever since her film, The Substance, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024. The 62-year-old ended her press for the film on a high note with her custom Armani Privé sequinned gown with fish scale details and a pleated peplum. The first-time Oscar nominee accessorized the look with diamonds from Chopard, including a statement cuff and classic chandelier earrings. Hopefully Saldaña is still riding the high of her Best Supporting Actress Oscar win that she won't mind securing a spot on our worst dressed list. We had high hopes for Saldaña's Oscars look; the Emilia Pérez star made our best dressed list for her breathtaking gown at the 2025 Golden Globes. However, we were perplexed by the billowing silhouette of this custom Saint Laurent look. The colours are perfect for the gorgeous actress, but it's an odd choice for the biggest night of your no surprise that Grande wore something pink to the Oscars, since the star has been method dressing for the entirety of the Wicked press tour. However, we could never have imagined that the singer and Oscar nominated actress would show up in this breathtaking blush and champagne Schiaparelli look. The gown put a modern spin on the traditional ball gown and featured more than 190,000 crystals in its ethereal tulle skirt that complemented the sparkle of her diamond accessories by De Beers, First things first: It's hard for Ana de Armas to look bad. The actress is so beautiful she could wear a paper bag on the red carpet. Unfortunately, we kind of wish she wore a paper bag instead of this satin halter gown by Louis Vuitton. The look reminded us of an '80s prom dress and failed to make de Armas stand out from her peers. How do you make someone so beautiful blend in with the crowd? You put her in this dress. Although she didn't earn an Oscar nomination for her work in Emilia Pérez, Gomez was a red carpet winner in this champagne coloured gown by Ralph Lauren. The Rare Beauty founder has been sticking to a similar style of dress as of late but this look, which featured more than 16,000 glass embellishments, is in a league of its own. Cruz has been a faithful devotée of Chanel for years, but to speak plainly: Penélope, it's time to make a change. The Oscar-winning actress's white silk chiffon gown featured a shirred bodice with buttons that did little to accentuate her shape. The look, which was inspired by a piece from the brand's 1992 collection. To speak plainly again: It's one look that should have stayed in the past. Erivo's Oscar look brought the drama to the red carpet. In a sea of blush, champagne and sequins, the Wicked actress stood out in her green velvet ballgown by Louis Vuitton that featured a structured collar and bow-inspired neckline. Erivo's stylist, Jason Bolden, took to Instagram to note that the look was inspired by Hattie McDaniel, the first Black woman to win an Academy Award in 1940. "Hope this look makes you proud," Bolden wrote on Instagram stories, signing the message, "Love Jason and Cynthia.' The Best Actress winner hit the red carpet in a Christian Dior looked that was a reproduction of Bal à Paris, a piece from the brand's 1956 spring-summer collection that took 400 hours to reproduce. While the look had all the makings of a show-stopping red carpet moment, it failed to pack a punch on the red carpet. Whether it's the loose tendrils of her hair or the way the satin looks wrinkled in the light, we're not quite sure what went wrong with this look. We just know Madison has delivered better fashion moments. Only Timothée Chalamet could pull off pastel yellow on the Oscars red carpet. The star of A Complete Unknown brought his tried and true playful sense of style to the Academy Awards in an eye-catching custom leather look by Givenchy which he paired with jewels from Cartier. Chalamet always keeps us on our toes — and we love him for it. There's a lot going on in this Chanel look, which is probably why it took approximately 450 hours to make. Torres looks elegant in this sequinned and feathered look, it just all starts to fall apart at the knees. The stark contrast of the detail of the sleeves, bodice and feathers with the plain black skirt makes the ensemble look incomplete. We would have preferred more feathers and embellishments or none at all for a more cohesive look.
