Iraq Jiu-Jitsu team bags 8 medals at Asian Championship in Amman
Amman ( – The Iraqi national Jiu-Jitsu team achieved a distinguished performance at the 9th Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025, securing a total of eight medals as the event concluded in Amman, Jordan, on Monday (May 26, 2025). The highly competitive tournament saw over 800 athletes from 28 countries participate.
Ali Dawood led Iraq's medal tally with a silver medal. Seven bronze medals were claimed by Abdul Hadi Qais, Mujtaba Ahmed, Mohammed Jasim, Muhannad Hassan, Hassan Nouri, Sajjad Fallah, and Ahmed Imad.
Mokhles Hassan, President of the Iraqi Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Vice President of the Asian Federation, praised the team's 'distinguished achievement' on the continental stage.
Following the senior championship, the Asian Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championship is set to commence in Amman today (Tuesday, May 27th), with active Iraqi participation. Officials expressed confidence that the well-prepared Iraqi youth team aims to represent the country effectively in this important continental event.
