Mickey J Meyer Defends HIT 3's Background Score Amidst Online Backlash

Last Updated: Mickey J Meyer addressed criticism of his score in HIT: The Third Case. He defended his creative risks and expressed gratitude to his audience. Music composer Mickey J Meyer recently opened up about the criticism aimed at his background score in HIT: The Third Case, the latest Telugu film starring Nani. Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Meyer shared his thoughts on the negative feedback and compared it to similar responses he faced with his work on the 2007 film Happy Days. Addressing the criticism, Meyer recalled, 'A very senior technician complained when he heard Happy Days' score. He said, 'What is this garbage, just 1 guitar, 1 piano here and there.' Trust me, you could elevate a lot of scenes in Happy Days more than what I did. That was 18 years ago, and I knew he was outdated in his approach. I get the same feeling now with #HIT3 score. It's a strange feeling. I feel great things coming my way! Criticism will always be there, but the choice of words some reviewers are using inadvertently portrays themselves poorly." Meyer further explained his creative process, saying, 'I am of a different mindset. I take risks, which pays off, maybe not always. Make no mistake, the score in HIT3 is successful in supporting the movie and is instrumental in its success, but not in ways some people are used to. Scene elevation is the easiest part of a score, but Sailesh did not want an over-the-top score. It took me a while to understand his vision. But not everyone can like your work. I will do what I can. I'm not defending myself, but sometimes it's important to express my thoughts." He added, 'I rarely speak up, but it's time for me to go back into quietness and do my job silently. I'm surviving in this industry by the grace of my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, and the support of the Telugu audience and music lovers." Mickey also expressed gratitude towards his audience, saying, 'To the ones who are not impressed by my work sometimes, sure, I will try to create something that you will enjoy. This is the entertainment business, and you do it for others—that's the goal. Tollywood has always been my niche, and you'll stop hearing my music the day I decide I'm done. Until then, I try my best!" HIT: The Third Case, which released on May 1, 2025, is a Telugu-language action thriller written and directed by Sailesh Kolanu. The film stars Nani and Srinidhi Shetty in the lead roles and has been produced by Prashanti Tipirneni and Nani under Wall Poster Cinema and Unanimous Productions. First Published:
