Completion rate in A'Suwaiq street vendors project reaches 80%

A'Suwaiq: The development project for street vendors in Al Khadra area in the Wilayat of A'Suwaiq has reached 80% completion, according to the North Al Batinah Governorate Municipality. Eng. Mohsin Mohammed Al Ajmi from the municipality's Projects Department stated that the project aims to create a safe, hygienic environment while regulating commercial activities. The development includes multiple facilities, namely shaded structures covering 460 square metres for 20 fruit and vegetable stalls, dedicated fish-selling areas with 10 cleaning and cutting stations, and infrastructure upgrades featuring a 580-metre paved road, 70 parking spaces, and 15 lighting poles- all within a total area of approximately 2,970 square metres. Al Ajmi emphasised that this initiative strengthens support for small-scale economic activities while enhancing urban aesthetics, reflecting the municipality's commitment to delivering quality community services and achieving sustainable regional development.

Muscat: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority on Sunday signed an agreement to establish three shelter centres in the wilayats of A'Suwaiq, Sohar, and Sur. The aim is to provide a safe environment equipped with all necessary supplies to accommodate those affected by natural disasters and exceptional circumstances. The agreement was signed by Abdullah Ali Al-Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, and on behalf of the executing company, Zaher Said Al Rashdi, Chief Executive Officer. This step seeks to provide a secure and fully equipped environment for sheltering individuals impacted by natural events and emergencies. It also reflects Oman's commitment to developing relief and shelter infrastructure, ensuring rapid and effective emergency response, and delivering humanitarian and logistical support.
