Duke, UNC, Wake Forest all in action in ACC Tournament quarterfinals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCT) — The 2025 men's ACC Basketball Tournament quarterfinal games got underway Thursday in Charlotte with four more games on the slate. To get things started Thursday, No. 1 seed Duke took on No. 8 Georgia Tech with a noon tip. The Blue Devils started ice cold, 0-for-13 from 3-point range and fell behind 26-12. Duke cut the lead to 31-26 at the half but lost two players to injuries, Cooper Flagg to a hurt ankle and Maliq Brown with a hurt shoulder. Duke took control in the second half, rallying to win 78-70. Kon Knueppel led Duke with 28 points and while Khaman Maluach and Isaiah Evans scored 14 apiece. The Blue Devils will play against North Carolina for a third time this season, Friday, in the semifinal. The fifth-seeded Tar Heels knocked off No. 4 Wake Forest, 68-59, in the afternoon game to set up the third installment of The Battle of the Blues. North Carolina was led by 23 points from R.J. Davis and Seth Trimble and Ven-Allen Lubin added 10 points each. Hunter Sallis led the Demon Deacons with 25 points. In the nightcap games, No. 2 seed Louisville faces off against No. 7 Stanford and No. 3 Clemson takes on No. 6 SMU. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Georgia Tech vs Duke ACC Tournament betting odds, prediction, pick

Georgia Tech vs Duke ACC Tournament betting odds, prediction, pick Georgia Tech versus Duke is an early start on Thursday at the ACC Basketball Tournament in Charlotte As we head into March Madness and reach the culmination of the college basketball season. All eyes are on Duke and Cooper Flagg. One of the central figures of the upcoming NCAA Tournament demands everyone's attention -- not with his mouth, but with his play. Flagg is making a very strong case for being the top pick in this year's NBA draft, should he choose to enter it. Duke will be a No. 1 seed and a frontline national championship contender. Flagg is a widely known name, but if he stars in the NCAA Tournament, he will attain a much higher level of recognition. Georgia Tech versus Duke in the ACC Tournament is only the beginning of a tournament journey for college basketball's most high-profile athlete. There is no real bracket drama surrounding Duke. The Blue Devils will be the No. 1 seed in the East Region. This game is all about winning another championship. Duke wants to follow up its ACC regular-season title with the ACC Tournament championship. If you talk to people in long-established ACC locales, they will tell you that the "ACC champion" is the tournament champ, not the regular-season first-place team. The ACC Tournament means a lot in the Carolinas, and you can bet that Duke coach Jon Scheyer is talking to his team about the meaning of winning this tournament. Speaking of things you can bet on, let's look at Georgia Tech versus Duke in the first of four ACC quarterfinals on Thursday. Let's give you the Georgia Tech-Duke betting odds and take a look at this midday ACC Tournament game in Charlotte: Georgia Tech vs Duke game odds: All college basketball odds via BetMGM Spread: Georgia Tech +22.5 (-110), Duke -22.5 (-110) Money Line: Georgia Tech +2200, Duke -8000 Over-Under: Over 143.5 (-110), Under 143.5 (-110) Georgia Tech vs Duke prediction, pick: Duke has covered a lot of mid-20s point spreads this season. The Blue Devils have regularly been installed as a 24- or 25-point choice and have covered. If you have followed this team all season, you know this has not been a problem for Duke and Cooper Flagg. This is, however, a noon local time start in Charlotte. Georgia Tech is in a single-elimination tournament and might offer a robust challenge in the first 15 minutes -- not over the full 40, but probably in the early going. We would lean Duke here, but if Georgia Tech leads something like 13-10 eight minutes into the game, you might be able to get Duke -17.5 on a live line. If Georgia Tech leads something like 24-20 after 13 or 14 minutes, you might be able to get Duke at -13.5. It's a good game in which to wait for the right live-play opportunity. Prediction: Duke 78, Georgia Tech 55 Georgia Tech vs Duke channel, start time, streaming: Start time: noon Eastern time, 9 a.m. Pacific time TV Channel: ESPN Live Stream: ESPN Plus Get more betting analysis and predictions at Sportsbook Wire.

UNC takes the court in second round of men's ACC Tournament

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCT) — Four more games tipped off in the men's ACC Basketball Tournament Wednesday, Mar. 12, 2025. In the day's opener, No. 9 Virginia took on No. 8 Georgia Tech with the winner moving on to take overall top seed Duke Thursday. Isaac McKneely did his best to lead the Cavaliers to victory with 27 points but Georgia Tech, behind 21 from Duncan Powell and 16 from Baye Ndongo, was too much. The Yellow Jackets got the 66-60 win and will move on to take on the Blue Devils. No. 5 seed North Carolina got back to winning ways with a blowout, 76-56, win over No. 12 seed Notre Dame. Charlotte's own Jae'Lyn Withers led the Tar Heels with 21 points, Ven-Allen Lubin added 17 and R.J. Davis scored 13. The night games featured an old PAC-12 rivalry now taking place in the ACC between 15th-seeded California and No. 7 seed Stanford. A back-and-forth game down to a few plays and the Cardinal pulled out the 78-73 victory to advance to take on No. 2 seed Louisville Thursday. No. 14 seed Syracuse was back on the floor after a win over Florida State to take on the No. 6 seed SMU. The Mustangs were mighty in the second half, running away from The Orange for a 73-53 win. SMU will match up against No. 3 seed Clemson Thursday. Thursday's games include: No. 1 Duke vs. No. 8 Georgia Tech, noon No. 4 Wake Forest vs. No. 5 North Carolina, 2:30 p.m. No. 2 Louisville vs. No. 7 Stanford, 7 p.m. No. 3 Clemson vs. No. 6 SMU, 9:30 p.m. You can see the bracket here. Cal vs Virginia Tech ACC Tournament betting odds, prediction, pick

Cal vs Virginia Tech ACC Tournament betting odds, prediction, pick Cal and Virginia Tech play one of three first-round games at the ACC Basketball Tournament We all know that March Madness is a term most people associate with the NCAA Tournament alone. However, serious college basketball fans, the junkies, know this week is as mad as any other week in March, and maybe more so. Do the simple math: In the NCAA Tournament, the first-round Thursday and Friday schedules have 16 games. It's a lot of games we all pick in our brackets, but 16 is nothing compared to the avalanche of daytime tournament basketball we have this week. Cal versus Virginia Tech at the ACC Tournament is one of three ACC first-round games. The ACC Tournament and the other power conference tournament have first-round games, second-round games, and quarterfinals today through Friday. Mutliply all those games, and you have several dozens of games, far more than just the 16 you get in the NCAA tourney. This is when March Madness truly begins. Let's dive into the Cal versus Virginia Tech matchup as daytime tournament basketball gives us one of the best weeks of the year in American sports. Let's give you the Cal-Virginia Tech betting odds and take a look at this second game of the ACC Tournament on Tuesday in Charlotte: Cal vs Virginia Tech game odds: All college basketball odds via BetMGM Spread: Cal -3.5 (-115), Virginia Tech +3.5 (-105) Money Line: Cal -185, Virginia Tech +150 Over-Under: Over 140.5 (-115), Under 140.5 (-105) Cal vs Virginia Tech prediction, pick: This is an opening-round game in a conference tournament, folks. What does that mean? It means these are mediocre teams. The SEC Tournament is very rare this year, in that its opening-round games have NCAA Tournament-quality teams, due to the SEC having a chance to get as many as 13 teams into the NCAA Tournament, a rarity. That's not normal. What's normal is for an opening-round conference tournament game -- played on a Tuesday in front of a sparse crowd of family and friends -- to involve two mediocre teams. That's what Cal and Virginia Tech are. A reminder: This is one of the worst ACC basketball seasons ever. The conference is likely to have 15 teams not make the NCAA Tournament (out of 18). Cal and Virginia Tech finished in the bottom tier of a bad conference. When you consider a betting play, you want to bet on a reliable team. Can you tell yourself either side is reliable here? The pregame bet makes less sense than a live in-game play. If one team goes up 10, you might want to get the trailing team plus 7.5 points if that's available. Also worth noting: Money is coming in on Cal in this game. We saw the line at 1.5 and then 2.5 before it moved up to 3.5. If you did happen to grab Cal at minus-1.5, you could perhaps get Tech on an adjusted spread and try to middle the bet, which is how all bettors try to make money. You instantly can ensure you won't lose money on this game. We lean Cal, but we don't like the 3.5 number given that some people could have gotten Cal at 1.5. Prediction: Cal 71, Virginia Tech 67. Cal vs Virginia Tech channel, start time, streaming: Start time: approximately 4:30 p.m. Eastern time, 1:30 p.m. Pacific time -- we say "approximately" because the Pitt-Notre Dame game preceding this game could run long. It's 25 minutes after the end of Pitt-ND. TV Channel: ACC Network Live Stream: ESPN Plus Get more betting analysis and predictions at Sportsbook Wire.
