MHR Capital Group Breaks Ground on AC Hotels by Marriott in Kennewick, Washington
BELLEVUE, Wash., May 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- MHR Capital Group, a Bellevue-based private investment firm focused on strategic real estate and private equity ventures, has announced the groundbreaking and commencement of construction on a new AC Hotels by Marriott in Kennewick, Washington. Developed in partnership with A1 Hospitality Group and Fowler Construction, this project represents a significant new hospitality asset in the Tri-Cities region. This project is a part of a public/private partnership in conjunction with the City of Kennewick's expansion of the Three Rivers Convention Center (TRCC). The new AC Hotel will be physically connected to the expansion, enhancing the area's ability to attract regional and national events and significantly boosting local economic activity. The project is structured as a Qualified Opportunity Zone Business, providing investors with significant long-term tax advantages under the Opportunity Zone program established by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The debt portion was financed by Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU) via Bellevue Capital Group (BCG). It's summer! Teachers, school employees eligible for a slew of discounts on fun
The school year is just about over in Palm Beach County, and teachers — like many others — will be looking for some summer fun. That won't be so easy for many teachers, who have an average annual salary of $60,400, according to Palm Beach County School District budget figures. Non-instructional staff have an even lower average annual salary of $28,000 per year, according to their union. But the good news is retailers, hotels and entertainment venues are offering a range of discounts to teachers, and some are extending those discounts to all school district employees. Here is a sampling of some of those discounts. ∎ The AC Hotel Miami Aventura is offering a Just for Teachers rate, including up to 25% off, two welcome beverages, a $25 gift card for a relaxation treatment, breakfast for two, late checkout and an upgrade to a premium room with a king bed. Search for the Just for Teachers package on to book. ∎ Tradewinds Resort on St. Pete Beach is offering Florida educators rates as low as $99 per night. ∎ Maingate Lakeside Resort in Orlando is offering Florida educators and any other Florida school employee from any Florida school district an educator rate of $45 per night plus tax. Tour St. Augustine also says it will assist with field trip planning and familiarization visits, including hotel discounts. ∎ The Kennedy Space Center is offering full-time Florida educators complimentary access to its Educator Resource Center. ∎ Crayola Experience is giving certified pre-K through 12 teachers a free annual pass good for any of Crayola Experience's five locations. The pass allows teachers to visit 365 days a year with no blackout dates. As an annual pass holder, teachers also receive 20% off admission tickets for family and friends, 20% off food and beverage purchases, 20% off merchandise, 10% off birthday parties, and special monthly offers. Josie Gibson stayed at the AC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow and toured the hotel's brand-new luxury wedding and event venue The Collector's Hall. She said: "I have never, ever stayed in anywhere like this in my life." She joked with general manager Craig Munro about her own romantic aspirations, saying: "Can I get married here? "Can you imagine walking down the aisle to a hunky Scotsman… I've just got to find him first." Craig said: "It was an absolute privilege to have Josie stay in our Liberty Suite. "This two-bedroom suite, with its unique layout and high-end finishes, complements our new wedding and event space perfectly. "We're thrilled she enjoyed her time with us and would be honoured to host her big day - when that hunky Scotsman comes along." The AC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow is a restoration of Glasgow's 120-year-old Grade A-listed former Parish Halls. As part of the £100 million Love Loan development, the project has transformed an entire block off George Square into a leisure and residential neighbourhood. The hotel's heritage suites, including The Liberty Suite, showcase original features such as a sweeping stone staircase, period cornicing, a glass ceiling dome, and a stained-glass window depicting Glasgow's famous coat of arms inspired by the legend of St Mungo. Walmart adds AC Hotel, shops to 414-acre corporate campus
BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Walmart announced the opening of the AC Hotel Bentonville and the addition of new shops and services as part of its ongoing upgrade of the 414-acre corporate campus. The AC Hotel, operated under the Marriott brand, includes 153 rooms, meeting space and a rooftop lounge named Falfurrias, according to a news release. The hotel is intended to serve visiting Walmart associates and guests, with availability for the general public when not in business use. The hotel is located near the intersection of 8th and J Streets, adjacent to Walmart's Home Office site. The rooftop lounge, Falfurrias, serves small plates and beverages. According to the release, the space is designed for informal gatherings and is named after 'one of Sam Walton's favorite escapes in South Texas.' Walmart says it will raise prices due to tariff costs after posting solid first quarter sales The development includes a pedestrian-friendly retail corridor along 8th Street, which will feature restaurants, personal care services and financial institutions. Several businesses have opened or are expected to open between fall 2024 and 2025, including: Restaurants and cafés: Sweetgreen – Seasonal salads and bowls Table Au Centre – European-style bistro Potbelly Sandwich Shop – Sandwiches, soups, and shakes Clementine's Ice Cream – Small-batch ice cream Flyway Brewing – Arkansas-based craft brewery Hatch, Riserva Bar + Tapas, Swig, Wright's Barbecue, Yokozuna and Jamba Juice are expected in 2025 Services and retail: Walmart Pharmacy Drybar Premier Aesthetics Arvest Bank Cellini Nail Lounge Bentonville Bicycle Company, Gearhead Outfitters and The Gents Place are scheduled for 2025.
