Dead dolphin sparks 'avoid area' warning on Guernsey beach
People have been urged to avoid a Guernsey bay after a dead dolphin was Police said the animal had been discovered near the groynes sea defences in the Grande Mare side of Vazon Bay.A post on the force's Facebook page said the Joint Emergency Services Control Centre and GSPCA had been notified and were monitoring the situation, along with Agriculture, Countryside and Land Management Services (ACLMS) said the advice was to "stay away" from the animal and area and to not touch the dead dolphin.
"The preferred option by ACLMS is to allow natural decomposer and return to the ecosystem but, ultimately, the decision will be made by ACLMS if recovery is required," a police spokesperson added.
GSPCA bosses issued a similar warning in a post on the charity's Facebook post said: "We are aware of a dolphin sadly washed up on the shores of Vazon beach. The States are aware."In the meantime, please could we advise people/children to avoid the area."
