Report: With viral video behind them, Patriots intend to pay Stefon Diggs ‘a lot of money'
If there was any doubt about Stefon Diggs' status with the New England Patriots it went away when the wide receiver was in attendance for Monday's voluntary practice. A video surfaced on social media that showed Diggs on a boat and had a bag with an unknown pink substance in it that he was handing out to women that fans on social media wondering whether Diggs' time in New England would end before it even started. Advertisement But not do the Patriots have zero plans to release Diggs, they want to make sure he gets paid. 'They intend to pay him a lot of money,' NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Monday on 'The Insiders.' 'They haven't yet, but they intend to pay him a lot of money especially after he passed the physical from his ACL recovery. He does seem to be on track. This is a player they want to keep, want to be making plays for them. That's why they signed him in free agency.' Diggs tore his ACL in Week 8 last season. His status for Week 1 was unknown, but Rapoport's report suggests optimism — especially given the fact he passed his physical. And while he was limited during Monday's practice, MassLive's Mark Daniels reported Diggs 'looked good for a player who suffered a torn ACL last fall,' and also 'had a notable burst of speed during position drills.' Advertisement The Patriots, in need of a wide receiver, signed Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal in March. The hope is that he'll not only give Drake Maye a legitimate WR1 in an important Year 2 at quarterback, but that he'll also provide the Patriots with offense they've been missing the last few seasons. Three-time Patriots champ shares thoughts on Stefon Diggs situation
James White has had Patriots teammates who have had their fair-share of off-field issues. And while he never teamed up with Stefon Diggs, the former New England captain weighed in on the Diggs situation. 'It would be worse — to me — if he wasn't working out. He posts his workout videos, too,' White said on 'The Money Down" podcast. 'This is how I know you're actually working and focused on what the main thing is. I know he did show up to OTAs (Monday), he was moving around. He looked good coming off that ACL surgery. He's flying around, he has the energy. He's a guy who likes to have a good time, but he puts the work in.' Advertisement A video went viral of Diggs on a boat that showed the wide receiver with a bag containing an unknown pink substance in it that he was handing out to women. This all happened before he set foot on the field for the Patriots, and many fans wondered whether the Patriots would release Diggs. But as White pointed out, Diggs has been busy focusing on his recovery from a torn ACL he suffered in Week 8 of the 2024 season. The 31-year-old has posted videos of his recovery, and he appears on track to be available in Week 1. Monday was the first time Diggs was spotted at practice. And while he was limited during the session, MassLive's Mark Daniels reported Diggs 'looked good for a player who suffered a torn ACL last fall,' and also 'had a notable burst of speed during position drills.' New England Patriots head coach says team is aware of Stefon Diggs boat video
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said the team is aware of a video of wide receiver Stefon Diggs holding an unidentified pink substance in a bag on a boat was widely shared on social media. At a press conference, a reporter asked Vrabel if the team was looking into a 'certain substance, that people are guessing what is and isn't,' which was seen in the video, where Diggs – who signed with New England in late March and is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 8 last year with the Houston Texans – is seen speaking with three women. During the video, Diggs pulls out a bag containing a pink substance and hands it to one of the women. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Vrabel stressed the importance of making 'great decisions, on and off the field.' 'Well, it's something we're aware of and, obviously, we want to make great decisions on and off the field,' Vrabel told reporters. 'Any conversations that I've had with Stefon will remain between him and I and the club.' Diggs has yet to comment publicly on the matter, but posted a series of intense workout videos to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, where he can be seen performing a variety of stop-and-start drills while tethered to a post and route running exercises. CNN has reached out to Diggs for comment. Representatives for the NFL said the league declined to comment. Vrabel emphasized that Wednesday's voluntary organized team activity, which Diggs missed, was a 'voluntary part of our offseason program,' but conceded that most of the Patriots squad had made it. 'The timelines, and the prognosis (of his ACL recovery), we're working hard to get him back and be ready to go. When he's here, we'll coach him and have him ready to go,' the coach said. When asked if he had spoken to Diggs since the video had come to light, Vrabel said: 'I talk to our players every single day, the ones that are here and the ones that aren't.' Diggs has been one of the best receivers in the league for years and hit another level after joining the Buffalo Bills in 2020 and linking up with QB Josh Allen, who won last year's NFL MVP award. He was traded from the Bills to the Texans last year, before signing with the Patriots to the three-year max $69 million deal, according to several reports, including NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Matildas coach Tom Sermanni provides ‘really positive' update on superstar Sam Kerr
Interim Matildas coach Tom Sermanni says superstar captain Sam Kerr is making 'really positive' steps towards her long-awaited return from an ACL injury. Kerr ruptured her ACL at training in January 2024 and has missed all matches for Chelsea and her country since. The 31-year-old has been sidelined for 16 months – four more than the typical ACL recovery — and there has been growing concern she might not play until 2026. But Sermanni said the Matildas medical staff was 'heavily involved' in Kerr's rehab process at Chelsea and all were confident of a looming return. 'It's actually going really well, we've got a full-time physio in London, it's where all the high-maintenance players are,' he said in Melbourne on Thursday, ahead of Friday's friendly against Argentina. 'We're heavily involved with Chelsea and Sam's rehab and the knee is looking really good. 'From their feedback, I am confident that she's getting much, much closer than she has been over the past few months. 'The news there I am getting back is really positive.' The Aussies host the Argentinians in the first of two friendlies at Marvel Stadium on Friday night. Sermanni expects a competitive touring outfit but will likely use the friendly as a chance to get a glimpse of some future stars as the Matildas continue to build towards the 2026 Asian Cup on home soil. 'Hopefully there will be some players in there that haven't had some game time, perhaps even any game time,' he said. 'It's always a balance, it'll be great if we can give more opportunities to more inexperienced players or fringe players, it's trying to work out the right balance. 'These will be two tough games, Argentina will probably be not too dissimilar to Brazil, they've got a love of women's football. 'They'd be down the rank a little bit but Argentinians in football will always be competitive.' While Kerr and fellow star Mary Fowler are both unavailable due to injury, the Matildas will feature Steph Catley, Caitlin Foord and Kyra Cooney-Cross fresh off their Champions League triumph with Arsenal last weekend

Socceroos coaching staff delighted with comeback of defender Alessandro Circati
Alessandro Circati's successful return for his Italian club Parma has the 21-year-old defender on the verge of a Socceroos recall for next month's FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Japan and Saudi Arabia. Socceroos coaching staff were watching closely on Monday morning (AEDT) when Circati played his first game since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in September last year. Despite Circati having been named in Parma's match-day squad for more than a month, Monday's match against Serie A leaders Napoli was his first game back in action. And he didn't disappoint, playing the full match and helping Parma keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 home draw. 'It showed … that he was able to play out comfortably 90 minutes against a side that's challenging for the title, so it means that he's done his work, he's been due diligent, and that he's prepared and done his rehab to a level that's expected when you play in those leagues,' Socceroos assistant coach Hayden Foxe said. 'We know what he's been doing. He's been working ever so hard, doing two or three sessions a day, working with the medical team very closely. 'It's no surprise now that when he comes back, he can play a (full match) and do it comfortably physically, mentally and tactically.' Circati seems set for more game time in Parma's final match of the season this Monday (AEST) against Atalanta. 'Every case is different. You can't say that he needs to play a certain amount of games before he can get called in or not called in to the national team,' Foxe said. 'We'll see how he goes again this weekend, and then we'll see the decision that's made if he gets selected or not selected for the June camp.' ð™ð™¤ð™§ð™¢ð™–ð™¯ð™žð™¤ð™£ð™š ðŸ'›ðŸ'™ #ParmaNapoli #SerieAEnilive — ððšð«ð¦ðš ð‚ðšð¥ðœð¢ð¨ ðŸðŸ—ðŸðŸ' (@1913parmacalcio) May 18, 2025 Capped four times, Circati's availability is timely given the Socceroos will again be without injured centre-backs Harry Souttar and Hayden Matthews for the games against Japan (June 5, Perth) and Saudi Arabia (June 11 AEST, Jeddah). The Socceroos are in second spot – seven points behind Japan and three points ahead of the third-placed Saudis – in Group C in the third round of AFC World Cup qualifiers. Should they remain in the top two after next month's matches, the Australians will guarantee themselves a place at next year's World Cup. Australia's squad is set to be named next week, with a host of established and fringe players at a training camp in the United Arab Emirates. 'This camp is about how we can build some resilience, strength and robustness for these two games coming up against Japan and Saudi Arabia,' Foxe said. '(Qualification) is in our hands. The boys should be confident. Expectations of the boys will be to qualify directly.'
