NYT ‘Connections' Hints For Tuesday, August 5: Today's Clues And Answers

Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Monday's: Hey there, Connectors! I hope your week is off to a wonderful start. I went to a couple of shows over the weekend, including one on Friday night. It was an evening of emo/metal tribute bands. I skipped the first act, which paid homage to A Day to Remember, since I don't know that band's music at all. The Paramore tribute group was pretty decent, but the headliner was the main reason I went. I've mentioned this a few times in this here column, but over the last few months, I've fallen head over heels in love with Electric Callboy. Their songs are an intoxicating mix of pop, metal and electronica/techno. Just fantastically fun stuff. It's going to be a while before I get the chance to see the real deal live, so I couldn't really pass up the chance to see a tribute band that was playing fairly close to my home. For it only being their second show, I thought the tribute band did a great job. They really got the crowd going. I'd never seen a wall of death with as few as about 20 people before, but they made it happen. The glow sticks that were handed out to the audience members and the confetti definitely helped with the party vibe. I had a great time, and I'd definitely see them again. But more than anything, the show reinforced my desire to see the real Electric Callboy as soon as possible. North America tour dates when, guys? Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us. Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes. Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Tuesday, August 5 are coming right up. How To Play Connections Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app. You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part. There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay. Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap. If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed. Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find our hints Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query. What Are Today's Connections Hints? Scroll slowly! Just after the hints for each of today's Connections groups, I'll reveal what the groups are without immediately telling you which words go into them. Today's 16 words are... And the hints for today's Connections groups are: One Word For Each Connections Group Need some extra help? Be warned: we're starting to get into spoiler territory. Let's take a look at one word for each group. Today's Connections word hints are… What Are Today's Connections Groups? Today's Connections groups are... What Are Today's Connections Answers? The yellows were super straightforward, and not only because I'm dashing off to take the METRO to go somewhere as soon as I'm finished writing this column. So, I have it on my mind. I had no problems with the greens either, with MINCE opening the door there. CARROT and COAL gave the game away for the blues too. I don't think I've ever actually built a snowman with the traditional accoutrements, but I've seen them often enough in movies etc to know what they look like. I was able to figure out the purples before submitting them too, largely thanks to ZIP and DRESS. "SECRET code" isn't quite a common enough expression for it to be a very neat fit here, I don't think, but it does work. Pretty straightforward game today, I felt. My streak now sits at 158 wins in a row. Here's my grid for today: 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Wednesday's game if you need them. P.S. I'd planned to go with something else today and recommend this song later this week, but this one fits in neatly with today's puzzle, so I had to change things up. 'The Subway' is the latest single by Chappell Roan. As with pretty much everything else she's done over the last few years, it's great stuff. This is a dreamy, heartfelt ballad about a lost love. The video's terrific too. though I would not personally every find myself in the Washington Square Park fountain. No, thank you: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love! Please follow my blog for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! A Day To Remember and Yellowcard just announced they're striking out on the nationwide 'Maximum Fun Tour' from September through November this year. While on the road, the anti-establishment co-headliners have two shows scheduled in New York and New Jersey. First up, they hit Syracuse, NY's Empower Federal Credit Union Amphitheatre on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Then, the pair is scheduled to melt faces at Camden, NJ's Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Thursday, Sept. 11. On select dates, the raucous duo will be joined by special guests State Champs, The Wonder Years, Boundaries and Dinosaur Pile-Up. This run comes on the heels of the release of A Day To Remember's eighth studio album 'Big Ole Album Vol. 1,' which hit shelves earlier this year. As for Yellowcard, their first record in a decade, the Travis Barker-produced 'Better Days' allegedly drops Oct. 10. In addition to the tour and new output, both acts also have Vans Warped Tour dates lined up this summer and fall. Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming A Day To Remember shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the 'Maximum Fun Tour' is Friday, June 6. Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand. They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event. A Day To Remember tour schedule 2025 A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below. Vans Warped Tour On top of the co-headlining jaunt, both ADTR and Yellowcard will take part in the recently-resurrected Vans Warped Tour. If you want to be there, here's where the action is going down at the three-part festival these next few months. 'Ocean Avenue' A Day To Remember new music Just a few months ahead of the tour announcement, A Day To Remember unveiled their eighth studio album 'Big Ole Album Vol. 1.' As always, the group oscillates between melodic pop, angsty punk and full-on metal, which creates a sense of whiplash while listening. There's little room to breathe but that's not necessary when a record is as much of a shot of adrenaline as 'Big Ole Album Vol. 1' is. Highlights here include the fist-pumping rocker 'Feedback,' melodic country-esque ode to buddies 'All My Friends' and invigorating 'LeBron.' All that being said, others may have a totally different interpretation of the record depending on taste. Our favorites here lean punk- some listeners may prefer the heavy metal. ADTR really caters to totally different audiences and that's part of what makes them so special. Want to give the album a spin? Click here to rock out to 'Big Ole Album Vol. 1.' Yellowcard new music Ahead of the release of 'Better Days,' Yellowcard has dropped a pair of hard-charging singles. The title track 'Better Days' kicks things off with a bit of feedback before launching into the group's anthemic sound — soaring vocals and rockin' guitar — and hit overdrive. It's a delight. Up next, 'honestly i' is a bit more unconventional with its shaky accordian-like sound off the top. Speedy percussions steady the operation and by a minute in, the song returns to classic Yellowcard territory. To hear for yourself, you can find both tracks here. 'Maximum Fun Tour' special guests In the off chance you need to brush up on the opening acts' respective sounds, here's each artist's most-streamed song on Spotify. State Champs: 'Secrets' The Wonder Years: 'Came Out Swinging' Boundaries: 'Easily Erased' Dinosaur Pile-Up: 'Back Foot' Huge acts on tour in 2025 Need more genre-bending punk and metal in your life? If so, here are just five groups that might scratch that itch. • Blink-182 • Sleep Token • Sex Pistols • System of a Down • $uicideboy$ Who else is on the road this year?
