Centre to issue Aadhaar like unique Id cards to farmers

Karimnagar: The Central government has decided to give a 'Farmer Unique Number' to every farmer in the same way as it has issued an Aadhaar card to every citizen in the country. The Central government has advised farmers to register their names by May 6. For the implementation of the registry programme, agricultural extension officers will visit the respective villages as per a fixed schedule and register the names of farmers. When the AEOs come to the village, either through Meeseva, the farmer will have to log in to the website and register his Aadhaar, Pattadar passbook or by online. Every farmer who has a land will have to enter the details of his land in this farmer registry and link his ownership details with the Aadhaar number, and the Central government will issue a Farmer Unique Number (Farmer ID) based on it. This 11-digit farmer identity card will be useful for the implementation of Central government schemes. The Central government has taken up this project with the intention of completely digitising the agricultural sector. The Agriculture department has asked all farmers to take advantage of it. Only the land ownership details available with the State Revenue department will be taken as standard and issued the unique card. No new ownership rights will be created. The Agriculture department officials have clarified that this farmer registry programme has no connection with the State government's Rythu Bharosa, loan waiver and other schemes. They said that the land ownership details available with the Revenue department are being taken as standard. As per the Central government's instructions, every farmer should provide his details to the local Agriculture officials for a unique card. Dr G Usharani Scientist (Plant Breeding and Head)Agricultural Research Station Karimnagar told The Hands India that the Centre does not have farmer-wise crop details and other information. The solution to all this issue will be provided with a unique identification number, which is why the Modi government has decided to issue a special card to every farmer. Kuppula Sathyarayana farmer, said the farmer Unique ID card will be of great benefit to the farmers. There are no government schemes and the farmer will get the convenience of access and that the Central government will have the opportunity to have complete details of every farmer and agricultural details, which will be of great benefit. Kunarapu Ramesh of Anthargam village in Peddapalli district said that there are many benefits through this code and if the Central and State governments implement them properly, the farmers will benefit a lot. He said that if the farmers are also given the opportunity to sell the harvested grain through this card, it will be of great benefit to the farmers.

1 2 Hyderabad: Farmer ID project , initiated by the central govt, is set to be launched in the state on Monday. Each farmer will be assigned an 11-digit unique ID, through which their land type, cultivation practices, and personal details will be digitally recorded by the govt. With the 'Farmer ID', they would be able to access all cultivation details in a single click. The unique ID would be mandatory for accessing central govt schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi , Soil Health Card and Fasal Bima Yojana. However, the state agriculture department clarified that the 'Farmer ID' was not required for state schemes such as Rythu Bharosa and Rythu Bima. Agricultural extension officers (AEOs) have already received training to carry out this initiative. The AEOs would begin collecting these details from farmers across the state and record them in a special app developed by the agriculture department. Once the details are entered into the app, an OTP (one-time password) will be sent to the farmer's mobile. After entering the OTP in the app, the 11-digit 'Farmer ID' would be generated. In the event of natural disasters, entering the ID would provide immediate access to the farmer's cultivation details. This initiative eliminates the need for repeated document submissions and paperwork. According to Rythu Bharosa data, there were over 70 lakh farmers in the state, with approximately 32 lakh benefiting from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. Meanwhile, as part of the state's 'Scientists at the Farmer's Doorstep' programme, 50 teams, each consisting of four scientists, would visit 1,200 villages – one village a week over the next six weeks. The teams would prepare farmers for the 2025 monsoon season. Nodal officers from the agriculture department would be appointed to oversee this programme. The state govt is implementing the programme in collaboration with scientists from Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University to educate the farming community on agricultural matters.

Nizamabad / Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday asserted that the Telangana government was fully equipped for the paddy procurement of Rabi season. Addressing the 'Telangana Rythu Mahotsavam' in Nizamabad, he said that every procurement centre is equipped to handle large volumes. Paddy procurement is being conducted in a transparent and accountable manner. He informed that 8,329 procurement centres had been proposed, and some districts like Nizamabad, Kamareddy, and Suryapet had achieved 100 per cent operational status. Storage capacity across Telangana stood at 64.65 LMTs, with 25 LMTs currently vacant. Additional storage was also available with rice mills and could be supplemented through Agricultural Market Committees, the State Warehousing Corporation, and private godowns, he emphasised. The Minister said that Agriculture Extension Officers (AEOs) and other manpower had been trained to identify grain quality as per notified standards. Separate classification mechanisms and a three-tier appeal process were in place to resolve any disputes between farmers and officials. He also highlighted the government's innovative use of weather forecast alerts and mobile dryers to protect paddy from unseasonal rains, and advised farmers to pre-dry and clean their produce before bringing it to the centres.
