Since AEW launched in 2019, marquee talents have jumped from WWE. One of the top acts in the company at the moment is The Hurt Syndicate, which features former WWE stars Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP. Lashley decided to leave WWE once his contract expired to enjoy more creative freedom under the Tony Khan umbrella. More recently, the promotion has signed key stars such as Penta, Rey Fenix, Ricky Saints, Ethan Page, and more. It appears you can add another significant name to that list. PWInsider is reporting that Mariah May is expected to sign with WWE in the "near future." The news comes after May was removed from the roster section of AEW's website. May first gained notoriety for her work under the Stardom promotion in Japan. She captured the Goddesses of Stardom Championship with newly signed AEW star Mina Shirakawa. AEW signed May to a deal in 2023. Advertisement During her time in AEW, May's popularity soared. She was involved in a heavily praised storyline with "Timeless" Toni Storm. May had served as Storm's protégé before turning on her. May captured the AEW Women's World Championship from Storm and held onto the gold for 174 days. May lost the championship back to "Timeless" during "AEW Grand Slam Australia." The two ended their rivalry at "AEW Revolution 2025." They performed in a Hollywood Ending match, and Storm picked up the victory. This would ultimately prove to be May's final match on her AEW deal. Big Bill and Powerhouse Hobbs bring their war to Phoenix, AZ, for a Street Fight tonight on Dynamite. Hobbs planted Bill with a spinebuster during their physical confrontation last week on AEW Dynamite. Samoa Joe officially formed The Ops with HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata previously on Dynamite before challenging The Patriarchy to a trios tag team match. The match is set for tonight's show from Phoenix, AZ. MJF and Hangman Page ignited their highly-anticipated feud with a brawl last week on Dynamite. The confrontation took place throughout the arena before security managed to pull both these men apart. The feud continues this week on Dynamite. Buddy Matthews came out of AEW Grand Slam Australia somewhat banged up. At AEW Grand Slam Australia, Buddy Matthews challenged Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Continental Championship. During Matthews' entrance, he rolled his ankle. Matthews finished the match, but he limped to the back after the bell. In a post on Instagram, Matthews' wife Rhea Ripley shared a picture in which he could be seen with a crutch. She also implied that he hurt his ankle. 'Ain't no Roly-Poly ankles gonna keep us down! Let the honeymoon commence,' she wrote. Mike Johnson of PWInsider then reported that Buddy Matthews suffered an ankle injury at AEW Grand Slam Australia. Further details are unclear at this time.
