Trump to create a 'freedom zone' in Gaza
Published April 8th, 2025 - 05:57 GMT ALBAWABA - US President Donald Trump referred to the Gaza Strip as an "incredible piece of important real estate", BBC reported on Monday. He also stressed the idea of having a United States peace force "controlling and owning" the Gaza Strip calling it a "good thing". Donald Trump also suggested deporting the Palestinians and "moving them around to different countries". Trump says he wants to deploy a 'peace force' to control and take ownership of the Gaza Strip after expelling the plans to call Gaza the 'Freedom Zone.' Follow: @AFpost — AF Post (@AFpost) April 7, 2025 In their place, the US president also suggested forming "a freedom zone" in the strip. He said referring to the Gaza Strip: "a great location that nobody wants to live in". Earlier after he assumed office as president of the US, Trump repeatedly suggested moving 2.1 million Palestinians from Gaza to other Arab states; Egypt and Jordan, controversially proposing that the US should control Gaza and turn it into a Middle Eastern "Riviera". However, later on, he retracted his suggestion during a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin, when he responded to a reporter's question about his plan by saying: "Nobody's expelling any Palestinians." © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (

Video: Trump wants to send US citizens to El Salvador prison
Published April 7th, 2025 - 07:30 GMT ALBAWABA - In a new encounter with news outlet Fox News, US President Donald Trump expressed his interest in sending American criminals who might face time in federal prison to El Salvador's notorious jail, CECOT. The Fox News journalist informed Trump about the President of El Salvador's willingness to receive American citizens serving time in federal prison to minimize its population. The US President replied, "Well, I love that. If we could take some of our 20-time-wise guys that push people into subways and that hit people over the back of the head and that purposely run people over in cars." He added, "If he would take them, I would be honored to give them…If they can house these horrible criminals for a lot less money than it costs us. I'm all for it. I would only do according to the law." Trump says he would like to deport America's most violent criminals to El Salvador's prisons. 'If we can take some of our 20-time wise guys that push people into subways and that hit people over the back of the head and that purposely run people over... I'd be honored to give… — AF Post (@AFpost) April 7, 2025 Trump's words sparked widespread debate on social media, with several users commending the president, while others weren't so keen about sending US criminals to "El Salvador's concentration camp-like and torture prison" due to legal and political issues. A social media user on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote, "Because Trump is a monster? I don't really have another explanation here. He is shipping large numbers of people accused of no crime other than an immigration-status violation to a Salvadorean torture prison. It's Hague-level sh*t." Another added, "HE WANTS TO SEND AMERICAN CITIZENS TO A FOREIGN GULAG." El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele expressed his interest in receiving violent US criminals and sending them to the country's CECOT prison for a fee during a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in February 2025. During the discussion, Marco Rubio called the possible agreement an "unprecedented migratory agreement." © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (

Trump discusses Gaza and regional tensions in call with Egypt's El-Sisi
ALBAWABA- U.S. President Donald Trump said he had a 'very successful' phone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, where they discussed the situation in Gaza, military preparations, and progress against the Houthis in Yemen. Also Read President Trump announces his first foreign visit in May Trump shared on Truth Social that the conversation covered 'many topics, including possible solutions for Gaza.' The call comes amid reports of deep disagreements between the U.S. and Egyptian leadership over the future of Gaza. Trump previously floated a controversial proposal to displace Palestinians from Gaza and turn the territory into an investment hub—an idea widely condemned by Egypt and other Arab nations. In contrast, El-Sisi has put forward a plan, endorsed by the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to rebuild Gaza over five years without displacing its residents. The U.S. and Israel have dismissed the proposal as unrealistic. Meanwhile, Israeli sources claim that Israel has asked the U.S. to pressure Egypt into dismantling military positions in the Sinai Peninsula, citing security concerns. The presence of Egyptian forces in Sinai has been a longstanding issue between the two countries, as it reportedly violates the peace agreement. Trump's call with El-Sisi may have touched on this sensitive matter, as regional tensions continue to rise. President Trump says his call with Egyptian President El-Sisi 'went very well,' highlighting US military progress against the Houthis in Yemen. Follow: @AFpost
