South Goa highway project to use AI-driven construction technology

Panaji: The Union ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) has chosen highway projects across the country where AI-driven technology will be implemented. Of the 16 pilot projects chosen across the country for the implementation of the technology in 2025-26, one is the Rs 700 crore project in Goa for the four-laning of 22km of the highway from Bendordem to Canacona. The ministry will use Automated and Intelligent Machine-aided Construction (AIMC) for this project, which was successfully tested in the construction of the Lucknow-Kanpur expressway project. Officials said that the Bendordem to Canacona project was sanctioned and will be awarded soon. The new technology will ensure faster, efficient and accurate construction with minimum human intervention. 'AIMC involving GPS-aided motor grader, intelligent compactor and stringless paver were used in the Lucknow-Kanpur expressway project. For the Bendordem to Canacona project, the ministry has said it will facilitate the contractor to get the required licence for the needed radio frequency range to use the technology, from the department of telecommunications,' said an official. Officials said that AIMC was found useful in projects requiring a significant amount of earthwork like the Goa project. 'GPS-guided machines and 3D modelling, among other technologies, will be used to ensure that the construction is as close to the design as possible. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Explore Home Solar Installation Careers and Training Options LocalPlan Search Now Undo A login and password will be created, where all data from the project will be saved. It is not a substitute for the conventional quality checks, but the aim of AIMC is to aid quality management,' said the official. The expansion of the NH-66 from Bendordem to the start of the Canacona bypass forms an integral part of the Mumbai-to-Kanyakumari four-lane corridor. It is a crucial artery connecting the towns of Margao, Cuncolim, and Canacona. It will traverse the villages of Bendordem, Cordem, Barcem and Canacona. This stretch is vital to facilitate the inter-state traffic with Karnataka and Maharashtra, which will also improve intra-state connectivity to Panaji and Margao. The project is being taken up on a hybrid annuity model, where the govt provides 40% of the project cost as construction support to the private developer during construction. The remaining 60% is paid as annuity payments over the concession period, along with interest. Govt also makes separate payments for operations and maintenance.

MoRTH to frame IRC guidelines after adopting new-age machines for faster highway construction

NEW DELHI: After the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) decided to adopt Automated and Intelligent Machine-aided Construction (AIMC) for highway development to ensure timely project completion, it announced that Indian Roads Congress (IRC) guidelines will be prepared based on feedback from contractors and concessionaires. The ministry has already sanctioned atleast 16 projects, where innovative machines will be used. According to the officials, Cabinet approval is awaited for 10 projects envisaged for implementation of AIMC system. 'With a significant growth in the national highways network including a significant increase in Greenfield and Brownfield highways with high embankments requiring a significant amount of earthwork and proper compaction in the last one decade, it has been felt appropriate to induct AIMC in highway construction,' said officials. The decision to formally adopt the system was taken after evaluation of efficacy in a pilot; Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway Project, where in GPS-aided Motor Grader, Intelligent Compactor and Stringless Paver were used. The ministry also took into consideration the feedback from stakeholders and international guidelines and specifications. The ministry has also sought feedback on adoption of AIMC to formulate IRC guidelines, added officials.

Why media careers are booming and how to choose the right institute to get there

From immersive storytelling on OTT platforms to AI-enhanced newsrooms, the media landscape is undergoing a seismic shift. With every scroll and click reshaping how stories are told and consumed, demand for skilled, adaptable professionals is surging. The stakes are higher, and so are the expectations from both audiences and employers. For students aspiring to make a mark in journalism, advertising, digital content, public relations, or media management, this evolution presents both opportunities and challenges. Especially when it comes to the first big decision- choosing the right institute to prepare them for the world ahead. What defines a future-ready media institute? 1. Curriculum that mirrors industry shifts Modern media roles demand more than just textbook knowledge. Institutes must offer courses that reflect industry realities, such as data-led journalism, influencer marketing, content strategy, podcasting, and immersive video production. Flexibility to learn new tools and respond to fast-evolving trends should be built into the curriculum. 2. Strong placement track record One of the most critical metrics for students and parents alike, placement performance reflects how well-connected an institute is to the industry. Look for programmes that have long-standing relationships with top media companies and offer internship pipelines, mentorship, and alumni support. 3. Infrastructure that simulates real-world conditions Gone are the days when classroom learning was enough. Today, high-end production studios, digital editing suites, radio and TV labs, and access to software like Adobe Creative Suite or AI-based content tools are essential for hands-on learning and creative experimentation. 4. Real-world exposure and flagship initiatives Participation in industry-led projects, film festivals, and panel discussions helps bridge the gap between theory and practice. Institutes that facilitate such exposure prepare students to confidently transition from campus to career. Why AIMC stands out among Delhi's media colleges Institutes like Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) , which are consistently ranked among Delhi's top private media colleges, have begun integrating new-age modules into their mainstream coursework, offering students a head start in future-facing roles. According to recent HANSA and MDRA surveys*, AIMC has been ranked the No.1 private media institute in Delhi for five consecutive years, a validation of both its curriculum strength and career outcomes. Its programmes in journalism, PR, advertising, digital content, and TV/radio production are designed with real-world applicability in mind. The faculty comprises industry experts and media practitioners. Students gain access to high-definition (HD) production studios, Mac-based editing setups, drone video tools, and the full Adobe Creative Suite, equipping them with the resources to transform their ideas into compelling content. The institute also stands out for its flagship initiatives, including the We Care Film Festival on disability awareness, Media Chaupal interactive forums, and the Academic-Industry Orientation program. Perhaps most importantly, AIMC shares that it supports students with 100% placement assistance through its strong industry networks and alumni connections. Invest in the right launchpad The media world is full of promise, but also unpredictability. The right institute can provide aspiring professionals with the stability, support, and skills they need to not only survive but also thrive. Whether you're a student or a parent making a career decision, evaluating institutes based on curriculum, infrastructure, industry connections, and long-term relevance is the best place to begin.
