AKNU will promote innovations: VC
Rajamahendravaram: A workshop on 'Promoting Innovations in Individuals Startups (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) (PRISM) Scheme - Promotion of Innovation and Entrepreneurship' was conducted at the Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU)'s NTR Convention Centre. The event was organised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) in collaboration with the Technopreneur Promotion Programme Outreach Cum Cluster Innovation Centre (TOCIC) of Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswavidyalayam, Tirupati. Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor, AKNU Prof S Prasanna Sree stated that AKNU will work to guide young innovators and practically encourage their ideas. She said that her own experiences led her to become an innovator, creating scripts for 19 tribal languages. 'Every great innovation begins with an idea,' she said. The DSIR programme, under the Government of India, is crucial in bridging the gap between academic research and industry-ready solutions, she added. The Vice-Chancellor noted that the programme aims to cultivate an innovative mindset and translate groundbreaking ideas into tangible solutions. It seeks to foster a culture of innovation, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial spirit, especially among students and the youth. She stressed that the DSIR provides financial assistance ranging from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 50 lakh to promote and scale up technologies. This support can be used for developing proof-of-concept models, creating working prototypes, and securing patents and technology transfers. The university will facilitate industry-academia partnerships and encourage interdisciplinary research to ensure that innovations meet market needs. Professor P Joshna, Coordinator of TOCIC, said that the DSIR-PRISM scheme is a joint effort with the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

AKNU to host national seminar on Aug 21
Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) will host a two-day national seminar on 'Preservation of Tribal Indigenous Knowledge on August 21 and 22, informed Vice-Chancellor Prof S Prasanna Sree. On Saturday, she formally released the brochure related to the seminar at the university campus. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said the seminar is being organised by the University College of Education in collaboration with ICSSR and NCST, with financial support from both institutions. The event aims to deliberate on crucial issues like tribal customs, traditions, cultural heritage, indigenous wealth, tribal rights, education, healthcare, and the need for education among tribal women. She said that academicians, tribal advisors, social thinkers, and researchers from various states are expected to participate and present their research papers and perspectives on these subjects. Prof K Subbarao will serve as the Chairman of the seminar, Dr RS Varahalu Dora as the Convener, Dr R Sambasiva Rao as the Coordinator, and Dr M Gopalakrishna, Dr G Elishababu, Dr J Rajamani, Dr V Ramakrishna, Dr N Sujatha, and KSR Rajeswari Devi as Co-conveners. The Vice-Chancellor invited scholars and the general public to take part and make the seminar a grand success. AKNU V-C honoured with Dr Subbakrishna Award
Rajamahendravaram: Vice-Chancellor of Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) Prof S Prasanna Sree has been conferred the prestigious Dr R Subbakrishna Memorial Best Community Linguist Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of tribal languages and scripts in India. The award was presented virtually on Wednesday during a meeting held at the university's video conference hall. It was conferred as part of the International Conference on Population Education heldin Imphal (North), Manipur. The event was jointly organised by the Directorate of Regional Indian Languages and Research (DRILR), Manipur International University, and Apumba Irei Pakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS). Prof Prasanna was lauded for her remarkable efforts in the preservation and revitalisation of endangered tribal languages, particularly in Andhra Pradesh and across India. University authorities, teaching, and non-teaching staff congratulated the Vice-Chancellor for bringing national recognition to AKNU and for her dedicated work in uplifting marginalised language communities.

AKNU invites applications for PG admissions
Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) Vice-Chancellor Prof S Prasanna Sree announced that students, who have qualified in APPGCET, are invited to apply for Postgraduate (PG) courses offered by the university. On Friday, the Vice-Chancellor unveiled the admissions brochure at her office, detailing various programmes and facilities available at AKNU. The university offers PG courses across its campuses in Rajamahendravaram, Kakinada, and Tadepalligudem, in disciplines such as Arts, Commerce, Science, and Technology. The V-C said that with the highest number of affiliated colleges in the united Godavari districts, AKNU stands as one of the largest state universities in Andhra Pradesh. She emphasised the university's student-friendly campus with a wide range of facilities, including experienced faculty, Dr BR Ambedkar Central Library, separate hostels for men and women, Wi-Fi, health centre, bank, post office, NSS units, and sports amenities. The university, recognised by AICTE and NAAC, has also signed MoUs with several national and international institutions to promote academic and research excellence. Admissions to all the courses available in various campuses of the university will be based on qualification in the state-conducted common entrance test. Adikavi Nannaya University creates record with grand celebration of International Yoga Day
Rajahmundry: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) marked a historic moment on the occasion of Yogandhra International Day of Yoga Celebrations 2025 by organizing one of the largest yoga gatherings in Andhra Pradesh. A total of 16,123 students from over 400 constituent and affiliated colleges participated in the mass yoga demonstration held at the AKNU grounds. The event, led by Prof. S. Prasanna Sree, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of AKNU, began at 8:00 AM and aimed to promote the values of health, harmony, and self-discipline through yoga. The Yogasanas were demonstrated by Raparthi Foundation. In a proud achievement, the event was officially recorded by the Telugu Book of Records as the largest yoga performance by students in the state, making it a milestone in the history of AKNU and the Yogandhra campaign.
