TOKYO -- Nearly 21% more Japanese travelers will take overseas trips over the summer vacation period than a year earlier, with the U.S. and Europe regaining popularity thanks to bigger bonuses and a more stable yen, a JTB report out Thursday shows.
Based on its survey and other data, the top Japanese travel agency projects 2.44 million people heading abroad between July 15 and Aug. 31 -- a period roughly corresponding to Japanese schools' summer breaks.
