Relive Miami movie magic: "Moonlight" re-releases on IMAX for one night only
"Moonlight," the 2016 Oscar -winning film set in Miami, is being re-released in IMAX on Thursday.
The big picture: The coming-of-age drama — which spotlights the Liberty City neighborhood where director Barry Jenkins and playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney grew up — reignited interest and investment in the local film scene.
The film, which tells the story of a gay black man growing up in Miami, was the first film with an all-Black cast to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
Driving the news: "Moonlight" will be exclusively re-released via IMAX for one evening only, at 7pm Thursday.
Local theaters where you can watch it include Regal South Beach, AMC Sunset Place 24, CMX Dolphin 19 & IMAX, AMC Aventura 24, Regal Kendal Village and several others in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
