Aston Martin Valkyrie Gets Washed For The First Time

Read the full story on Backfire News The Aston Martin Valkyrie is about as close to a street-legal racecar as you can get these days. In fact, the consumer version is more powerful than what's used in IMSA and FIA WEC racing. Not only is it a crazy hypercar, it's crazy expensive and complicated. As you're about to learn, just detailing the thing is quite the for a well-seasoned professional detailer who's worked on some rather pricey rides, like Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC, the Valkyrie presents some real challenges. First, getting into the tight cabin isn't easy. He's also on edge because Aston Martin gave him a tutorial of the hypercar, warning him about what buttons to not press or to only press at certain times/in certain ways. Not following those complex directions could result in a $200,000 repair or something crazy like that. Also, just like a racecar, starting the Valkyrie isn't as simple as putting your foot on the brake pedal and pressing the ignition button. It's a multi-step process that's hardly intuitive. Considering the Valkyrie costs about $4.5 million, we can understand why the guy's nerves were a little raw just backing it out of the trailer to take delivery. The Valkyrie AMMO NYC was hired to detail is a beautiful gray with Gulf livery. While we love the hypercar in black, it does look great in that spec. Washing the hypercar comes with some unusual challenges. While Kosilla is always meticulous and careful, in addition he struggles to clean the undercarriage. The Valkyrie requires special lifts to get underneath it, but he does climb into the air passages to scrub them, a claustrophobic endeavor for sure. Like he's done on other exotics, Kosilla also does paint correction. One would think for such an expensive vehicle the paint would be perfect, but it's not and Kosila believes he knows why. Of course, you probably won't see too many Aston Martin Valkyries in your area getting detailed or even just driving around. Production globally has been capped at 275 units, so these are quite rare. Left For 28 Years, 1993 Mustang Cobra Gets Fully Detailed

Read the full story on The Auto Wire The Fox Body, like this 1993 Mustang Cobra, is one of those pony car generations people either love or loathe. Depending on how you feel about the third generation Ford, you might think this particular one left in a shipping container for almost three decades should either be lovingly preserved or the owner contacted a very capable professional car detailer, realizing the classic car needed serious help to regain its shine. After all, the snake became a hotel for rodents. The current owner inherited the Ford from his brother who tragically passed away. After the Mustang blew its transmission long ago, the guy parked it in a shipping container until he could get back around to it, and there is sat. The family wanted to clean it up as a tribute to their loved one. Thankfully, they turned to AMMO NYC, which has expertise in dealing with neglected rides like this one. After giving it a good wash, removing all the debris buildup, the paint appeared chalky. A good polishing job brings the shine back out. While the paint needed a lot of help, the interior not only had rodents' nests and droppings, mold had taken hold. This is an unfortunate risk of leaving a car sitting for years on end. Running a dehumidifier in the cabin periodically can help with prevention. If you plan on storing a car for a while for whatever reason, we suggest adding stabilizing fluids and following any manufacturer recommendations for lubrication. Check inside and around the vehicle periodically, looking for signs of animal infestations. Leaving rodent traps around is also a good idea. Check out the video to see the results – they're amazing. Filthy BMW M6 E24 Washed For The First Time In A Quarter Century

Read the full story on Backfire News We bring to you yet another BMW M6, this one a first generation E24, also abandoned in a yard. Some are going to be fighting mad seeing the condition of this Bavarian hero, because it's bad outside and in. The doctor who owns it parked the thing 25 years ago, but thanks to his kids' intervention, it gets a full detailing with the aim to motivate him to fix its mechanical people just park a car and leave it on their property with the intention of addressing some issue with it. While you might want to criticize owners for neglecting their ride, the fact is we all procrastinate on at least some things. You might not with vehicles, but for some people it's a problem they keep meaning to address but don't get around to it. Maybe repairing a car is just too expensive when it's first parked. Then other things happen. They look at the vehicle and see it's filthy, the tires are flat, and they start feeling overwhelmed about how it probably has even more problems. They put off addressing the car. It becomes too much, pushed out of their mind, something which nags their subconscious and every once in a while intrudes into their consciousness. While this BMW M6 E24 was expensive for its time and a true rarity here in the US, making it hard to see in this condition, perhaps that's why the owner didn't just ditch the thing. But it's covered in algae, has rodents' nests inside, and something shoved a bunch of dirt and rocks into the tailpipe. However, as AMMO NYC starts cleaning it up, the paint looks to be in much better condition than we would've thought. But they have to battle corrosion and other challenges to get this ride fully detailed. But the Bimmer cleans up nicely. Even though it's in need of some restoration work, both mechanical and cosmetic, the results are enough to astound the owner. Here's to hoping he cherishes the classic instead of letting it molder in the yard again. Images via AMMO NYC/YouTube
