Arkansas Department of Corrections employee dies on duty at Cummins Unit after ‘medical incident'
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – An Arkansas Department of Corrections employee died while on duty this week.
ARDOC officials said Sgt. Fredrick Coleman died while on duty at the Cummins Unit on Thursday.

A spokesperson with the Department of Corrections said the death was the result of a 'medical incident.'
DOC officials said Coleman was known for his strength, kindness and hard work as well as his dedication to those he worked with.
Officials added that Coleman was given the Director's Outstanding Service Award in 2022 by ADC Director Dexter Payne for his service at the Cummins Unit.

'Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time,' department officials said in a post. 'He will be deeply missed by his AR DOC and ADC Family.'
