Rune Technologies Closes $24M Series A to Deploy AI-Enabled Software for Military Logistics

Funding follows increased demand for Rune's flagship product, TyrOS, which transforms how the military tracks, predicts, and manages all aspects of logistics ARLINGTON, Va., July 21, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rune Technologies, which is revolutionizing military logistics through AI-enabled predictive software explicitly designed for the modern, contested battlefield, today announced $24 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Human Capital with participation from Pax VC and Washington Harbour Partners, as well as existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, XYZ Venture Capital, and Forward Deployed VC. "Our mission is to bring military logistics sophistication in line with the prowess of our fighting capabilities," said David Tuttle, Co-Founder and CEO of Rune Technologies. "We've seen significant demand from across the services for a product that can replace the whiteboards and spreadsheets that are currently used to track logistics operationally. This investment will allow us to accelerate our deployment of TyrOS to sustainers across the joint force." Rune's TyrOS is built with edge-first architecture that represents a fundamental shift in military logistics technology. Instead of pushing data to distant servers for processing, TyrOS embeds intelligence directly at the tactical level where decisions get made. This bypasses the need for constant connectivity to remote servers and enables systems to operate independently and synchronize when communications are reestablished. "Rune is solving the perennial problem of anticipating, planning and executing military logistics in dynamic, high-tempo and contested environments," explained retired Major General Duane Gamble, former Army G4. "Throughout my 37-year career, military logisticians spent virtually all available time on the science of logistics. TyrOS leverages AI/ML and world-class engineering to do the science, freeing up logisticians and commanders to focus on the art of warfare. It's a game changer." Coming from backgrounds across all branches of the U.S. military, Rune's real-world experience with real-world battlefield conditions grants them a deeper understanding of logistical challenges. By bridging the innovation gap between Silicon Valley and military logistics, Rune deploys engineers alongside warfighters, making code changes based on direct warfighter feedback, at the speed of need. "It's urgent that the Department of Defense keeps modernizing its core systems and software with the best technology available — and that's Rune, automating granular work so logisticians can focus on strategic decisions," says Ross Fubini, Managing Partner at XYZ Venture Capital. "We've invested in Rune twice in just a few months because it's clear they're making huge impact across multiple operational military units, and that this type of transformation is crucial right now." Rune has deployed TyrOS under both U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps efforts to date, and will use the increased funding from this round to accelerate these efforts as well as expand into other U.S. military services. The company was also recently selected for the Palantir Startup Fellowship and announced an integration earlier this year with Palantir's Defense OSDK (Ontology Software Development Kit) to enable automated logistics capabilities from the tactical edge to the strategic layer, leveraging open architecture to bring the best capabilities to military logisticians and leaders. This marks Rune's second fundraising round following a seed round announced in February and brings Rune's total funds raised in the past year to over $30 million. About Rune Technologies:Rune Technologies is revolutionizing military logistics through AI-enabled predictive software that operates in contested environments where communications are denied or degraded. Rune's TyrOS platform transforms manual logistics processes into intelligent supply webs that anticipate needs, optimize resources, and enable distributed operations at machine speed—even when supply lines are targeted by near-peer adversaries. Founded by veterans with deep operational experience and Silicon Valley engineering talent, Rune is ensuring military effectiveness through the precise execution of critical logistics operations. Detroit Tigers snap six-game losing streak with 2-1 win vs. Rangers in Tarik Skubal gem

ARLINGTON, TX — Left-hander Tarik Skubal put the Detroit Tigers in a position to win, but when he was pulled from the game at 105 pitches with two outs and runners on the corners in the seventh inning, the Texas Rangers took advantage. The Rangers immediately tied the game. But the Tigers clawed back to snap a season-long six-game losing streak. The Tigers beat the Rangers, 2-1, on Sunday, July 20, in the finale of the three-game series at Globe Life Field, as Matt Vierling delivered the go-ahead hit in the eighth inning. It marked the Tigers' first win since July 8, and made them, at 60-40, the first MLB team to 60 wins. WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Key questions for Tigers after All-Star break, including the bullpen problem In the seventh inning, Skubal and Johan Heim battled for eight pitches with runners on the corners, following Adolis García's double and Kyle Higashioka's single. On the eighth pitch, Skubal ripped a changeup below the strike zone for a swinging strikeout. The eight-pitch battle brought Skubal's pitch count to 105. And it ended his 20th start. The Tigers turned to left-handed reliever Tyler Holton, but on his fourth pitch, he threw a changeup for a wild pitch that got away from catcher Dillon Dingler and rolled toward the Tigers' dugout, allowing García to score easily The wild pitch tied the game, 1-1. Celebrate 125 epic seasons of the Tigers with our new book! All Skubal could do was watch from the dugout. In the following inning, back-to-back singles from Gleyber Torres and Riley Greene set the table, but back-to-back outs from Spencer Torkelson and Wenceel Pérez threatened the momentum against right-handed reliever Chris Martin. But Vierling saved the day for the Tigers, knocking a two-out RBI single on a full-count fastball into center field for a 2-1 lead. To earn the win, Holton recorded the first two outs in the eighth inning before right-handed reliever Will Vest replaced him in search of a four-out save. Vest struck out Wyatt Langford on three consecutive fastballs — 97 mph, 97 mph, 97.8 mph — for the third out in the eighth, but still, the Rangers had Corey Seager, Marcus Semien and García due up in the ninth inning. Those three batters were retired quickly, ending the game: Seager grounded out to shortstop, Semien flew out to right field, and García struck out swinging. Vest has 16 saves in 20 chances. [ MUST LISTEN: Make "Days of Roar" your go-to Detroit Tigers podcast, available anywhere you listen to podcasts (Apple, Spotify) ] Tarik Skubal vs. Corey Seager For the Rangers, Seager produced two hits in three plate appearances against Skubal — bringing his career stats to a .667 batting average in 12 matchups with Skubal. Everyone else? The Rangers not named Seager finished 2-for-21 with 11 strikeouts against Skubal, with both hits occurring in the seventh inning to help chase Skubal. The 28-year-old allowed one run on four hits and zero walks with 11 strikeouts across 6⅔ innings, throwing 71.4% of his 105 pitches for strikes and generating a 33.9% whiff rate. Skubal raised his arms in the air to celebrate when Seager lined out in the sixth inning, following a double in the first inning and a single in the fourth inning. After Seager's double, Skubal struck out seven of eight batters in the first, second and third innings — beginning with back-to-back strikeouts of Semien and García to strand Seager in scoring position. Those seven strikeouts: Semien (96.6 mph sinker), García (97 mph fastball), Higashioka (96.3 mph fastball), Cody Freeman (86.9 mph changeup), Justin Foscue (98.3 mph fastball), Ezequiel Duran (96.8 mph fastball), Langford (86.3 mph changeup). Skubal has a 2.19 ERA in 20 starts. Scoring first The Tigers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Three singles in a row for the Tigers against left-hander Jacob Latz produced the run, thanks to Pérez, Dingler and Zach McKinstry. Latz replaced right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, who was scratched from Sunday's start due to back tightness. He limited the Tigers to one run over five innings. The Tigers had other opportunities to score in the early innings, but Riley Greene grounded into a pair of double plays. It happened in the third after a Torres walk, then again in the fifth after a Torres single. Torres finished 3-for-3 with one walk in four trips to the plate. United aware of reports kite struck plane landing at Reagan National

ARLINGTON, Va. (WDCW) — A kite reportedly made contact with a United Airlines flight Saturday as the plane was approaching Reagan National Airport (DCA), the airline said. In a statement to Nexstar's WDCW, United Airlines said it is aware of reports that a kite struck United Flight 654, which departed from Houston for Washington, D.C. However, the airline added that 'the aircraft landed safely, customers deplaned normally and upon inspection, there was no damage to the aircraft.' The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), whose police department patrols Reagan National (DCA) and Dulles International airports, said that its officers had responded to reports of kite-flying that day at Gravelly Point. FAA reports near-miss at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport involving Delta plane, Air Force Talon Gravelly Point, a park across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., is just a few hundred feet away from the north end of DCA's runway. People are not allowed to fly kites there because of 'the danger of low-flying aircraft,' according to the MWAA. Upon responding to the park, the airport's authority said officers briefly confiscated a kite flying in the restricted air space. 'That kite was returned to its owner shortly later and no charges were filed,' said Emily McGee, a spokesperson for the MWAA. Officers also warned people about flying kites in the area. Across the Potomac on the National Mall, National Cherry Blossom Festival organizers held the annual Blossom Kite Festival on Saturday to celebrate cherry blossom season. According to organizers, the kite festival was unrelated to the kite-flying activity at Gravelly Point. The reported incident comes just two months after an American Airlines plane and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter collided above the Potomac River near DCA, killing 67 people. On Friday, a Delta Air Lines Flight preparing to leave Ronald Reagan and an incoming military jet received instructions to divert and prevent a possible collision, officials said.
