Arkansas offering scholarships to single-parent students
ARKANSAS (KTAL/KMSS) — Single-parent students can apply for a Summer 2025 scholarship of up to $1,600 from the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF).
Single parents can visit to complete an online application with supporting documentation by June 1. For the Summer 2025 semester, ASPSF is only accepting applications from current or previous recipients from the Spring 2025, Fall 2024, or Summer 2024 semesters.
Fall 2025 scholarships will be offered to new students between August 1 and September 1.
'If awarded, single parents directly receive the financial aid,' a press release stated. 'They can use it to pay for daily household expenses — like child care, groceries, and gas — while going to school. Additionally, ASPSF staff and volunteers provide mentoring, resources, and professional development.'

According to the release, scholarship recipients must have a GED or high school diploma but have not yet earned a bachelor's degree. They must also have a 2.0 GPA and earn a medium to low income. For a complete list of ASPSF's eligibility guidelines, visit
'These scholarships for single parents are made possible thanks to generous donors, organizations, schools, businesses, and foundations who believe in the incredible power of education,' the release stated. 'Thanks to community support, ASPSF awarded over 800 scholarships totaling $1.1 million last year.'
