UAE traffic pledge campaign offers 4-black point deduction for safe driving on August 25
The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Federal Traffic Council and in coordination with police leaders across the country, has launched a pioneering traffic initiative called 'A Day Without Accidents', coinciding with the start of its 'A Safe School Year' campaign. This is because 25 August marks the start of the new school year. The initiative aims to raise awareness of safety, prevention and traffic protection for all road users. The initiative aims to reward those who comply with the pledge and do not violate traffic laws. This includes fastening seat belts, abiding by speed limits, maintaining a safe distance, respecting the priority and safety of pedestrians, avoiding distractions such as using a phone while driving, and giving way to emergency vehicles, ambulances, the police and official convoys. The initiative involves community participation in promoting traffic awareness through a special pledge via the following link: ( ). Those who register before 25 August will have four traffic points deducted on September 15, electronically, without the need to visit a service centre. Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, emphasised that this initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety by raising awareness of traffic messages, requirements and laws aimed at improving the road environment, ensuring safety and protecting lives and property. "In cooperation with all our partners, we are keen to launch pioneering initiatives that promote positive behaviours and encourage the community to comply with traffic laws," Al Harthi said. He added that launching such initiatives on the first day of the school year highlights their importance in ensuring the safety of children and students, and in guaranteeing a safer and more secure environment." The initiative includes raising awareness of various violations and recurring behaviours on the roads. These include fastening seatbelts, giving way, maintaining a safe distance and complying with speed limits. All of these contribute to the protection and safety of road users. Al Harthi reiterated the call to engage with these initiatives, thereby expanding community awareness and encouraging civilised compliance with the law. He emphasised that responsibility for maintaining road safety is shared.
