Indian Railways Introduce Multi-Layered Security To Curb Cheating In Recruitment Exam
Last Updated:
An official statement indicated that this major initiative aims to maintain integrity and ensure fairness by achieving a 'zero cheating cases' record for the June 2025 RRB exams.
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is implementing stricter anti-fraud measures, which include mandatory face recognition and the extensive use of mobile jammers at all its exam centres throughout India, reported Mint. The move aims to uphold integrity and ensure fairness by achieving a 'zero cheating cases" record for the June 2025 RRB exams, according to an official statement.
An advanced Aadhar e-KYC-based photo validation system will be introduced that will allow real-time face matching during the registration process on exam day. Photographs obtained directly from the candidate's Aadhar e-KYC will be compared with the images captured during the initial application submission and again at the exam centre registration by the relevant authorities, the report added.
This multi-layered verification process aims to incorporate an additional 'post-exam scrutiny" layer, rendering impersonation virtually impossible, it stated. Alongside biometric security, the RRB will deploy mobile jammers at all 7,000 exam centres nationwide. The goal of the process is to eliminate any attempts at cheating through electronic devices such as mobile phones, which have posed significant challenges in conducting large-scale examinations.
These reforms were implemented four months after the Railway Ministry decided to assign the responsibility of conducting exams to the RRB. This decision came after the CBI arrested 26 railway officials in Uttar Pradesh's Mughal Sarai for allegedly leaking exam papers.
Meanwhile, the Railway Ministry has released the RRB Exam Calendar 2025. Some of the top recruitment exams that the RRB conducts include RRB Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP), RRB Junior Engineer (JE), RRB NTPC, RRB Technician, RRB Group D, Paramedical Staff and Ministerial and Isolated Categories. This official calendar sets the timeline for evaluating vacancies, uploading them to OIRMS (Online Indent and Recruitment Management System) and issuing recruitment notifications (CEN).
As per the calendar, the NTPC Graduate (Level 4,5,6), NTPC Under Graduate (Level 2,3), Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent, Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant, Paramedical Category vacancy assessment deadline is September 30.
