‘Aadi amaavaasai' observed

Thousands of people performed rituals and offered prayers on the occasion of 'Aadi amaavaasai' observed on Thursday In Tirunelveli district, the public performed 'Aadi amaavaasai' rituals along the Tamirabharani River at Sorimuthu Ayyanar Temple, Papanasam, Ambasamudram, Kallidaikurichi, Karuppanthurai, Kurukkuthurai, Kokkirakulam, Kuttathurai, Jadaayu Theertham, Mela Naththam, Seevalaperi and other areas and offered prayers in the temples nearby. State BJP president Nainar Nagenthiran performed the rituals at Kuttathurai and offered prayers in the nearby Subramnaiar Temple and Peraathu Selvi Amman Temple after taking bath in the river. Police and fire and rescue services personnel had been deployed to prevent the public from moving to the deeper part of the river. In Tenkasi district, the public performed the rituals along Chittar watercourse as all waterfalls in Courtallam were dangerously flowing on Thursday.
