Pro Football Focus center rankings illustrate value of Aaron Brewer's deal with Dolphins
Pro Football Focus center rankings illustrate value of Aaron Brewer's deal with Dolphins The Miami Dolphins are banking on multiple youngsters morphing into difference makers up front along its offensive line. As the Dolphins navigate forward with some youth, the franchise needs its veteran linemen to be rocks. One of Miami's older heads up front seems to be coming into his own. Sixth-year pro Aaron Brewer is coming off his best season after joining the Dolphins last spring on a three-year, $21 million contract. Brewer's emergence is reflected in Pro Football Focus' latest NFL center rankings. Brewer checks in as the league's No. 7 center according to Mason Cameron. Brewer's move to Miami this past season paved the way for his best season in the NFL. He posted a career-best 74.1 PFF overall grade on a full workload — a top-eight mark at the position. Improvements as a pass protector helped round out his game, as he finished as one of just two qualifying centers to post a 70.0-plus PFF grade as a run blocker and a pass protector. The only other player to hit the mark was Creed Humphrey. - Mason Cameron, Pro Football Focus. Sharing company with the Kansas City Chiefs' Creed Humphrey is certainly a great sign for Miami. Humphrey ranked as PFF's No. 1 center overall. Brewer is likely to share the interior with another veteran and one rookie. The Dolphins selected Arizona offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea with their second-round choice in the 2025 NFL draft. Savaiinaea projects as one of the Dolphins' starting guards, joining free agent signee James Daniels who spent the past three seasons in Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, second-year pro Patrick Paul, a second-round draft choice in 2024, is set to slot in as the Dolphins' new starting left tackle. Paul is replacing five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Terron Armstead. Sixth-year pro Austin Jackson projects as the Dolphins' starting right tackle.

Arizona Cardinals re-sign pair of key special teams players
The Arizona Cardinals, days before the actual start of free agency, have taken care of a pair of their key special teams players. They announced on Friday that they re-signed long snapper Aaron Brewer to a one-year contract and safety/special teams ace Joey Blount to a two-year deal. Brewer returns for his 10th season as the Cardinals' long snapper. He has played in every game in each of the last two seasons and made a pair of special teams tackles. Last season, between kickers Matt Prater and Chad Ryland, they made 34-of-38 field goals and 36-of-37 extra points. With Brewer's return, the trio of specialists for the Cardinals appear set, as Ryland and punter Blake Gillikin are both under contract for the 2025 season. Prater is expected to leave in free agency after missing 13 games last season with a knee injury. Blount gets a multi-year deal. He was a restricted free agent, but the Cardinals weren't likely to use a qualifying tender. He originally joined the Cardinals in 2023 and played 11 games. He appeared in 15 games last season logging a career-high 268 special teams snaps. His seven special teams snaps were tied for the second-most on the team last season. In 2023, he had the second-most special teams tackles on the team with nine and forced two fumbles. Cards Wire will have details of the contracts in the coming days once they become official and are filed with the league.
