Fond du Lac officers investigating shots fired incident near Parish School Apartments
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – After several vehicles and residences were hit by bullets early Sunday morning near the Parish School Apartments in Fond du Lac, officers are seeking more information. Officers with the Fond du Lac Police Department say that multiple gunshots were heard outside the Parish School Apartments on East Merrill Avenue around 2:45 a.m. on June 8. Fond du Lac teen flown to trauma center after crash with vehicle while riding bike
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A 13-year-old from Fond du Lac had to be flown to a trauma center after a crash with a vehicle at the intersection of Pioneer Road on Friday afternoon. According to the Fond du Lac Police Department, officers were called to the East Pioneer Road and Martin Avenue intersection around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, for reports of a vehicle and bicycle crash. Officers say their preliminary investigation indicated that a 13-year-old Fond du Lac boy was riding his bike westbound on the sidewalk. Witnesses stated that the traffic light for northbound and southbound lanes had turned green. Two dead, one hospitalized after crash in Shawano County As a van began to continue north after the green light, officers stated that is when the boy crashed into the front passenger side of the van. The teenager suffered 'significant trauma' to one of his legs and had to be flown by a ThedaStar medical helicopter to a trauma center. Officers noted that his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Our hearts go out to the young boy and his family, and we are hopeful for a full recovery. As summer begins and more children are outside riding bikes, this is a powerful reminder for parents to review safety rules with their kids, including wearing a helmet, walking bikes across busy streets, and making eye contact with drivers before crossing, to name a few. Two women arrested for $1,725 theft at Fond du Lac Kohl's
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Fond du Lac say two women were arrested Sunday afternoon after they allegedly stole merchandise estimated to be valued at $1,725 from a Kohl's retail store. According to a release from the Fond du Lac Police Department, officers responded at 2:35 p.m. to the area near the West Johnson Street and North Pioneer Road intersection after Flock license plate recognition cameras sent an alert for a vehicle believed to be connected to a retail theft in Winnebago County. Officials say they were able to find the suspect vehicle as it exited the Kohl's parking lot in Fond du Lac and attempted to conduct a traffic stop as it began to enter onto I-41 South. WIAA approves constituional amendment allowing high school student-athletes to enter into NIL opportunities The driver of the vehicle reportedly refused to pull over at first, leading to a pursuit that ended once the vehicle eventually pulled over north of South Military Road. Following the pursuit, two women from Madison, a 40-year-old and a 26-year-old, were arrested by Fond du Lac police on charges of felony retail theft, with the 40-year-old driver facing additional charges related to the pursuit. This incident highlights the effectiveness of technology like Flock license plate recognition systems in supporting real-time policing and inter-agency collaboration. Thanks to the alert and the coordinated efforts of our Officers and partnering agencies, we were able to safely apprehend the suspects and prevent further criminal activity in our Fond du Lac community. Chicago man arrested after trying to leave scene of Fond du Lac firearm incident in an Uber
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A Chicago man who was wanted on a federal parole warrant was arrested after a firearm incident inside a Fond du Lac residence where five children were home at the time. A release from the Fond du Lac Police Department details the incident where a 31-year-old man from Chicago allegedly pointed a gun at a woman inside a home on North Butler Street. Around 11:45 p.m. on January 30, officers responded to a 911 call from a woman who stated that a man pointed a gun at her while they were inside the residence. Officers noted that five children ranging from newborn to 13 years old were inside the home as well. One injured in Campbellsport multi-unit house fire, family left without home FDLPD learned while responding to the incident that the suspect, a 31-year-old man from Chicago, reportedly was wanted by the US Marshals on a federal parole warrant for the 'possession of a machine gun and dangerous drugs.' A perimeter was set up around the house in order to make contact with the suspect and try to rescue those inside. A Bear Cat, K9 team, and the Technology Response Group joined Fond du Lac SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams. Officers say that the man allegedly tried to leave the scene in an Uber in an attempt to escape. He was then taken into custody without further incident. Officers recovered a firearm from the scene. Wausau Police investigation results in seizure of 748 grams of meth, one man arrested Authorities confirmed that everyone in the home were all physically unharmed. The rapid and coordinated response by our FDLPD Officers and partner agencies ensured that this dangerous incident was resolved without further harm to the victim or children involved.
