Texas A&M 2026 4-star WR commit has shut down his recruitment
This weekend was critical for Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff, who hosted 18 prospects from the 2026 recruiting class, including six commitments, led by four-star running back Jonathan Hatton and four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory, who are both borderline five-star prospects with productive college careers ahead of them. Keeping track of commits has been more challenging in today's NIL-based college football landscape. Still, after the House v. NCAA settlement was officially approved on Friday evening, schools will work with an average of $20.5 million of their revenue to share with their collegiate athletes. For Texas A&M, football, basketball, and baseball will take the majority of the funds. Advertisement For football prospects looking to play at the Power 4 level, NIL has created a relatively fair playing field. Once a recruit is set on their future destination, shutting down future visits is a definite sign of what we in the industry call a "hard" commitment. On Saturday, just hours after Jonathan Hatton confirmed his commitment, Aaron Gregory followed suit. Amid the smoke regarding the Texas Longhorns attempting to flip Gregory, the elite pass catcher has reportedly shut down his commitment, taking to X with an official post detailing his reasoning for sticking with the Aggies moving forward: "Why Texas A&M? Why not?" "I chose the right program that I see fits me and my playing style the best! Everyone thinks it's about money. I have a REAL RELATIONSHIP with all thte coaches. Coach (Mike) Elko, Trooper (Taylor), (Holmon) Wiggins, and the rest of the staff had a relationship with me for some time now!" "I AM COMMITTED TO TEXAS A&M. The community, fans and the team have welcomed me and my family with open arms. It's time to help build this 2026 class and become a LEGEND at Texas A&M." Posting a video on X to confirm his further commitment, Gregory's dedication to helping build the remainder of Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class aligns with Mike Elko's recent comments regarding the strong foundation the program has established over the last year. According to 247Sports Composite, Gregory is the 66th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 8th-ranked wide receiver, and the 7th-ranked prospect in Georgia. 2026 4-star Texas A&M TE commit has shut down his recruitment
2026 4-star Texas A&M TE commit has shut down his recruitment Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is one of the hottest growing cycles in the country, already locking down two of the highest-ranked prospects in the class as four-star WR Aaron Gregory and four-star running back Jonathan Hatton have shut down their recruitment and future official visits, and will more than likely sign with the Aggies during Early Signing Day on December 4. Multiple players shutting down their recruitment is an impressive feat for any coaching staff, especially after A&M's 1-4 finish during the 2024 season, which has not affected the amount of recruiting talent that descended on College Station last weekend. On Monday, another 2026 commit who visited this weekend, four-star tight end Caleb Tafua, has joined Gregory and Hatton in shutting down his future visits. Tafua committed to the Aggies on December 1, 2024. OC Collin Klein's tight end-centric offense took center stage last season and is expected to be even more successful in the passing game in 2025, thanks to an influx of talent from the transfer portal and the 2025 signing class. For Tafua, his future as a hybrid tight end who could be an instant threat through the air is in College Station. Tafua has continued to garner attention from several programs, primarily due to his elite athletic profile as a standout basketball and volleyball player, which has enhanced his ability as a receiver, with impressive quickness evident in his route running. According to 247Sports, Tafua is currently positioned as the 13th-ranked tight end and the 28th-ranked prospect in California. 5 elite 2026 prospects flock to social media during their Texas A&M visit
5 elite 2026 prospects flock to social media during their Texas A&M visit Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff are currently hosting some of the most talented prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, with a total of 18 prospects making their way to campus on Thursday through Saturday, while some of the more vital prospects, including five-star wide receiver and LSU commit Tristen Keys is still open for business despite his pledge wth the Tigers. Six Texas A&M commits in the 2026 cycle, including wide receiver Aaron Gregory, edge Jordan Carter, running back Jonathan Hatton, quarterback Helaman Casuga, tight end Caleb Tafua, and defensive lineman Jermaine Kinsler, who are all considered "hard" commitments who are expected to sign with the team this winter. However, these official visits are crucial in building a strong relationship with each commit and visitor, knowing that players like Tristen Keys and five-star safety Bralan Womack likely won't return to College Station before their commitments or signing announcements. On Thursday night, several of the visitors, including five-star edge Anthony Jones, four-star cornerback Dorian Barney, and four-star offensive lineman John Turntine, also made their way to campus, sharing their visits via social media (X). 2026 Four-Star OL John Turntine III 2026 Five-Star Edge Anthony Jones 2026 Four-Star WR Aaron Gregory (Texas A&M commit) and Five-Star WR Tristen Keys (LSU commit) with literal goats 2026 Four-Star CB Dorian Barney 2026 Five-Star WR Tristen Keys This is just the start of what's to come this weekend. With the news that former Miami Recruiting Director and assistant wide receiver coach David "Pop" Cooney is now headed to College Station, anything is possible, especially relating to his connection with Tristen Keys and Aaron Gregory. Texas A&M will host electric 4-star WR next month for an official visit
Texas A&M will host electric 4-star WR next month for an official visit Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class features plenty of talent at nearly every position, including wide receiver, which includes commitments from four-stars Aaron Gregory and Mike Brown, while five-star Ethan "Boobie" Feaster has continued to trend toward the Aggies over the last week. As long as OC Collin Klein is running Texas A&M's offense, the Aggies need as many skilled route runners as possible, so loading up at wide receiver in the 2026 cycle is key to future success. this week, it was revealed that 2026 four-star WR Jayden Warren out of Iowa Colony HS has set up future official visits to TCU (May 30), SMU (June 6), Houston (June 12), and Texas A&M (June 20), as well as Nebraska (June 14) and Oklahoma (June 28) to finish out the summer. Outside of his play on the gridiron, Warren, like many new-age wide receivers, has excelled in Track & Field, winning the Texas District 20-5A 100-meter and 200-meter championships as a junior with times of 10.16 and 21.48. During his 2024 junior season, Warren reeled in 26 receptions for 613 yards and 14 touchdowns, including 23.6 yards per reception. Due to his track speed, Warren's ability to gain chunk yards on short passes makes him one of the most sought-after receivers in the state, with the ability to become a star in the right system during his sophomore or junior season. According to 247Sports Composite, Warren is currently positioned as the 131st-ranked prospect, the 19th-ranked wide receiver, and the 18th-ranked ranked recruit in Texas.
