KUCHING (July 13): A reward of RM5,000 has been offered in an effort to bring an end to the string of rock-throwing incidents plaguing motorists plying Jalan Batu Kawa here.
Padawan Municipal Council councillor Aaron Tay said he and several friends are offering the reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.
'This reward is purely a personal contribution from myself and a few friends who share the same concern for the safety of our people.
'We sincerely believe that this initiative can expedite the search for and arrest of the individual responsible,' he told The Borneo Post when contacted today.
Tay said he was under the impression that the case had been solved following the arrest of a senior citizen last week, but was shocked and deeply concerned to learn that another rock-throwing incident had occurred in the same area on Saturday night, reportedly injuring a passenger.
'It is now deeply concerning that the rock-throwing incidents have resumed, and this time the situation has worsened,' he said.
Tay, who has visited the sites of the attacks on multiple occasions, urged the public to cooperate with the police in an effort bring a swift end to the menace.
'Let us stand united in protecting our community and ensuring Batu Kawa remains a safe place for all,' he added. Aaron Tay Jalan Batu Kawa lead reward throwing rocks
