Fintech firm PayPal to create 100 new jobs in Ireland
Fintech firm PayPal has announced it will create 100 new jobs in its Dublin offices, as it seeks to expand its investment in advanced data science and AI.
The 100 new positions will be in highly skilled data science roles, spanning a range of specialties, including AI engineering, data science, software development, risk modelling, and cybersecurity.
The company said this new team would play a key part in the company's working in close coordination with PayPal's other innovation hubs.
Global chief risk officer at PayPal Aaron Webster said this expansion 'reflects both our confidence in the local ecosystem and our ambition to build an AI-driven, data-powered future that embeds trust and safety in every transaction'.
'We are proud to deepen our commitment to Ireland and to invest in highly skilled roles that will help shape the future of PayPal globally.'
These new jobs are being supported by the Government through IDA Ireland.
Chief executive of IDA Ireland Michael Lohan said the expansion of PayPal's operations in Ireland was a 'testament' to the country's 'enduring appeal as a location for high-value investments'.
The new roles being created at PayPal come following a number of layoffs over the past few years.
In February last year, the company announced it would cut 205 jobs from its Irish operations, and a few months later in June, it announced a second round of layoffs, with 85 jobs being cut.
In March 2023, it last cut 62 jobs, with the company also announcing plans to close its Dundalk offices, with staff attached to the office continuing to work remotely.
