Pyramids halt Masry perfect start in Egyptian Premier League - Egyptian Football
Newly signed Brazilian winger Ewerton scored a brilliant solo goal to help Pyramids FC earn a 2-2 draw against El Masry on Tuesday, ending the Port Said side's perfect start to the Egyptian Premier League season. Ewerton broke the deadlock in the 37th minute with a powerful strike after a solo run down the left flank. Masry responded shortly after the break, with Abderrahim Deghmoum slotting home from close range in the 49th minute following a scramble in the box. Fiston Mayele restored Pyramids' lead in the 66th minute with a clinical finish, but Omar El Saaiy equalized for Masry seven minutes from time to secure a point for the league leaders. Masry remain top of the standings with seven points from three matches, while Pyramids sit second on five points. The Port Said club had kicked off the campaign with back-to-back wins, collecting six points from their first two matches before Tuesday's draw. On the other side, Pyramids opened their season with a goalless draw against Wadi Degla, followed by a 1-0 victory over Ismaily. Preview: Masry aim to hold off Simba in Confederation Cup quarterfinal second leg - Egyptian Football
Egypt's Masry will look to keep their first leg advantage when they face Tanzania's Simba SC in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium. First-half goals from Abderrahim Deghmoum and John Ebuka handed Masry a 2-0 win in the first leg last week in Suez. This puts the Port Said side in a strong position to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2018. Tunisian coach Anis Boujelbene has called for discipline and composure from his players. He warned against the danger of conceding early in front of a home crowd. 'Simba are strong on their own ground, and we expect a tough atmosphere,' Boujelbene told his squad during Tuesday's tactical session. 'We must stay compact and avoid unnecessary risks.' Masry conducted their final training session on Tuesday evening at the match venue following a light workout on Monday at Major General Isamuhiyo Stadium. Simba topped their group in the earlier rounds of the competition. They will rely heavily on home support in Dar es Salaam as they seek to overturn the deficit. The Tanzanian club has built a strong continental reputation in recent seasons and is expected to adopt an aggressive approach from the start. The winner will face either Egypt's Zamalek or South Africa's Stellenbosch in the semifinals. Late Ebuka strike puts Al Masry in comfortable lead over Simba
Al Masry put up a strong performance at home to edge Simba in Suez during a high-paced TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Quarter-Final first leg clash on Wednesday evening. Following a frantic start with both sides looking for an early lead, the hosts eventually settle into the match and took control of proceedings. With a more controlled approach to the tie, Abderrahim Deghmoum found the opener in the 16th minute to give Al Masry the much-needed goal to settle the nerves. Simba would not let go of the belief of a comeback, as they continued sending numbers forward, but a disciplined and resolute Al Masry defense kept the Tanzanian giants at bay. Coming back into the second half, both sides continued from where they left off with a high-octane pace to the clash. While both sides enjoying a fair amount of possession, none could break each other's last line of defense, with both sides lacking that final defense splitting pass. It was however in the dying minutes of the tie that Nigerian forward, John Ebuka sealed an emphatic and hard-fought victory for the Egyptians in the 89th minute as he fired home a goal that gave his side a confidence boosting two-goal cushion ahead of the return leg next week.

Masry edge Simba 2-0 to move closer to CAF Confederation Cup semis - Egyptian Football
Egyptian side Masry defeated Tanzania's Simba 2-0 in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals at New Suez Stadium on Wednesday, moving a step closer to securing a spot in the semifinals. Algerian midfielder Abderrahim Deghmoum opened the scoring for Masry in the 16th minute, while second-half substitute John Ebuka sealed the victory with a late strike confirmed by VAR after initial offside confusion. The Port Said-based side pushed forward from the start of the game, seeking for an early opener but they failed to create clear-cut scoring opportunities. However, the breakthrough came a minute after the quarter-hour mark, when Deghmoum received a cross from midfielder Youssef El-Gohary outside the area, unleashing a powerful left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. After the goal, the visitors abandoned their tight and solid defensive approach and pushed forward, seeking to level the score. They waged numerous attempts on Masry's goal, but the Port Said-based side's resolute defense blocked all their opportunities. The Tunisian tactician Anis Boujelbene reshuffled his midfield midway through the second half, introducing Karim Bambo and Beninese midfielder Samadou Attidjikou for Fakhredine Ben Youssef and Deghmoum. The changes nearly paid dividends when Salah Mohsen's 73rd-minute strike from Bambo's pass narrowly whistled wide. Simba's Leonel Ateba forced a crucial save from goalkeeper Mahmoud Gad minutes later, the Cameroonian connecting cleanly with Kibu Denis' cross only for Gad to palm the close-range effort away. The keeper shone again in the dying moments with multiple saves to keep Simba at bay. Ebuka finally killed off Simba's hopes deep into stoppage time, slotting home a goal initially ruled offside before VAR overturned the decision, sparking jubilation among the home fans. Masry will aim to defend their advantage in the return leg at Simba's fortress in Dar es Salaam on 9 April, with the aggregate winner faces either Zamalek or South Africa's Stellenbosch in the semifinals.
