Bahrain Plans First-Ever Regional Water Sports Excellence Center
Bahrain is taking a major step toward becoming a regional hub for water sports. A coordination meeting was recently held between the Bahrain Aquatics Federation and a delegation from the World Aquatics Federation to discuss the creation of the Bahrain Center of Excellence, supported by GFH Financial Group in collaboration with the University of Technology Bahrain.
The upcoming center will be the first of its kind in the Middle East, serving as a regional platform to train and develop talents in swimming, diving, artistic swimming, open water swimming, and water polo—all in line with international standards.
Present at the meeting were Abdulla Atiya, President of the Bahrain Aquatics Federation, Ahmed Abdulghaffar, Executive Director of Operations at the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and Farhan Saleh, a board member of the federation.
Officials emphasized that the project represents a strategic step for the Kingdom, enhancing its ability to host international tournaments and events while nurturing a new generation of Bahraini athletes ready to shine on the global stage.
