Oman concludes role as guest of honour at Cairo Intl Book Fair
CAIRO: The Sultanate of Oman officially concluded its participation as the Guest of Honour at the 56th Cairo International Book Fair, which ran from January 23 to February 5.
Oman was represented by several official bodies, civil society organisations, and cultural institutions, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Sultan Qaboos University, the Cultural Club, the Omani Writers and Authors Association, the Oman Memory Center, and Bait Al Zubair. Additionally, 13 Omani libraries and publishing houses showcased their latest publications to readers and visitors.
The Omani pavilion featured a rich and diverse cultural programme, including an exhibition of rare Omani manuscripts, fine arts displays, traditional musical and folk performances, and the screening of short promotional and tourism films about Oman. A dedicated VR experience corner offered visitors an immersive look into Omani culture. The programme also included a variety of lectures, seminars, workshops, and poetry evenings, fostering intellectual exchange.

Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Oman's Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, emphasised that Oman's participation reflected its deep-rooted cultural values and underscored the spirit of intellectual and cultural exchange that strengthens human dialogue and understanding.
He highlighted that the event provided an invaluable opportunity to showcase Oman's vibrant literary and artistic landscape, with its rich diversity, creativity, and originality. The participation of esteemed Omani and Egyptian scholars, authors, and cultural figures further enriched discussions on literature, thought, and artistic expression, strengthening ties between two historically significant cultures.
