Colours say more than words: Artist at his solo show
Lucknow: A solo painting exhibition 'Power of Colours' by artist
Umesh Kumar Saxena
began at
Kala Srot art gallery
on Saturday. The exhibition will remain open from 2pm to 8pm daily till May 20, 2025.
As many as 30 paintings on canvas using acrylic colours are on display, based on themes of love, celebration and transparency. A painting 'Shakuntalam' is based on 'Abhigyanashakuntalam', a play by Kalidasa while 'Chakor' is based on folklore.
"Every art has universal language and words can't express what colours can," said Saxena, whose career began in 1977. He has presented several shows at national and international level.
Mausami Mallick, a visitor and an artist herself said, "Umesh has a unique style of layering shades and textures of same colour making his work look like a puzzle from afar and you need to look closely to understand."
