Police bust gang producing fake certificates, two arrested
Two men were arrested by the Noida Police on Tuesday for allegedly producing fake marksheets, degrees, and migration certificates, among other documents, for individuals who failed their examinations or needed to alter their age. The accused, Abhimanyu Gupta (40) and Dharmendra Gupta (42), are both from Kanpur and reside at Sector 39 in Noida. Both held BA degrees, said police. They allegedly charged between Rs 80,000 to Rs 2 lakh for creating the forged marksheets, said Additional DCP Sumit Kumar Shukla, adding that the accused used to lure students who failed in Board and university exams. Noida DCP Yamuna Prasad said the Phase 1 police station in charge had received a tip-off a few days ago about such a gang allegedly being active in the area. A team was formed to look into the matter, he added. Assistant Commissioner of Police Swatantra Kumar Singh said, 'The station in charge of the Phase 1 police station sent a policeman to approach the gang members seeking fake BSc marksheets. The deal was fixed at Rs 66,000 and the two men were caught red-handed.' 'The accused have been working for at least four years. They gathered marksheet details from different universities from the Internet and doctored certificates with information of unemployed people, and people who have failed in exams or have crossed the age limit for employment,' said DCP Prasad. Both the accused own luxury cars and two flats each in Noida, said an officer.

Gang making fake educational documents busted; 2 arrested
Noida Two Kanpur-based men were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly creating fake marksheets and other forged educational documents, charging between ₹ 80,000 and ₹ 2 lakh for each, police said. Police said that 66 fake marksheets, seven migration certificates, two laptops, two printers, seven mobile phones, and other forged documents were recovered from their possession. (Sunil Ghosh/HT Photos) 'We had been receiving tip-offs over the past few days about a gang involved in making fake documents, including marksheets, operating in Noida. Based on the information, we traced the suspects — Abhimanyu Gupta (40) and Dharmendra Gupta (42), both natives of Kanpur,' said the Station House Officer (Phase 1 police station) Amit Kumar. The SHO added, 'The suspects were living in rented accommodations in Sector 100 and Sector 99 of Noida and were running their fake documentation operation from Sector 1.' The investigation revealed that individuals who needed fake marksheets and other educational documents for job applications or higher education would approach the duo. 'They had been running this illegal business for the past six years, charging between ₹ 80,000 and ₹ 2 lakh for providing forged documents,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yamuna Prasad. He added that the accused used to download data from Google to create fake copies resembling original documents. The suspects were booked under Sections 318(4) (cheating), 338 (forgery of valuable security), 336 (forgery), and 340 (forged electronic documents) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Phase 1 police station. Police said that 66 fake marksheets, seven migration certificates, two laptops, two printers, seven mobile phones, and other forged documents were recovered from their possession. Additionally, two cars used by the suspects were also seized.

Police received an input a few days ago that a gang making fake marksheets was active in the area. After this, a team conducted a recce and kept an eye on the kingpins of the gang. DCP Yamuna Prasad said the station in-charge sent a policeman to get the marksheets made. He talked to the kingpin about getting the BSc marksheets for which the deal was fixed for Rs 66,000. Station house officer Amit Kumar Maan said the suspects rented the first floor of a four-storey house in Sector 1 and employed some young men and women at salaries of Rs 10,000-12,000 to call and lure people. It is suspected some more people may be involved, the SHO said. Maan said a case has been registered at the police station under sections 318(4) (cheating), 338 (Forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 336(3) (forgery), 340(2) (Forged document or electronic record and using it as genuine), and 3(5) (joint liability) of the BNS. Over 60 fake marksheets, migration certificates, laptops and cheque books were seized from the duo, holding BA degrees, ACP Swatantra Kumar Singh said. "Police have also recovered 14 plain examination papers, seven mobile phones, 22 CVs and other documents. Both the accused owned luxury cars and two flats each in different parts of Noida. We have seized the cars of the accused," the officer said.
