Behind the music - Abigail Hawk, star of BadaBoom

BadaBoom, "the world's first hybrid e-gaming /storytelling live experience, takes place In the Civic Theatre, Tallaght, Dublin on 28 August. We asked actress Abigail Hawk, who stars in the show, the BIG questions . . . Starring Abigail, from TV drama Blue Bloods, and Peter M Smith. from Moonlight: The Philip Lynott Enigma. BadaBoom tells the story of Frankie Caruso, a hitman, who has spent his life in the shadows but when he begins recounting his past to Eliza Vale, a biographer, "the facade he has carefully constructed begins to crack". However, the audience doesn't just watch - they use their mobile phones to take part in the action. As the story unfolds, "they will be immersed in a thrilling, interactive spectacle where every twist and turn is determined by the players in the audience". Tell us three things about yourself . . . I hate mushrooms but love truffle oil. I have broken my tail bone twice. I am writing a historical fiction novel based on the life and death of Mary Pearcey. You've been involved with musicals all your life. What are your favourites and how would you describe your musical taste? Yes, since I was six. First production was The Sound of Music. I was Gretl. Favourites include Les Mis, Sweeney Todd, The Book of Mormon, Hamilton, Waitress, Phantom of the Opera, Anything Goes. I would describe my musical taste the way I describe myself: eclectic. How would you describe your musical taste? Yes! Current wants are to play King George in Hamilton. That's right. King George. And to play Roxy Hart in Chicago with Gregory Jbara as Billy Flynn and Robert Clohessy as the tragic Amos. What was the first gig you ever went to? First time I fell in love with concerts was a Guster show when I was in college. What was the first record you ever bought? Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill. And the musical Rent. Same purchase with my allowance. Also bought a choker necklace and shopped for belly button rings for a piercing I didn't have (I was 15) What's your favourite song right now? Anything Teddy Swims sings turns to gold for me. Favourite lyric of all time? Sara Bareilles has a way with words that haunts my marrow. I'm also such a sucker for sad songs. They just cut through all the noise and go right to the quick of being human. But if I had to pick, knowing all I know now: "Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise" - Blackbird by The Beatles. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be? Two Points for Honesty by Guster. Eva Cassidy singing Fields of Gold is right up there, too. Instagram is the most immediate place to start @hawkabigail. IMDB Abigail Hawk has up to date career stuff.
