Abu Obaida hails West Bank shooting as heroic

The spokesperson for Qassam Brigades, Abu Obaida, praised a shooting attack carried out on Wednesday near the town of Bruqin, west of Salfit in the West Bank. 'We commend the heroic shooting operation near Bruqin, west of Salfit, carried out by the brave members of our people in the West Bank,' he said. 'We call on our people to rise up against the occupation in defense of Al-Aqsa, to confront the aggression in the West Bank and its refugee camps, and to support their steadfast brothers and sisters in Gaza.' 'Israeli' media reported that several settlers were wounded in the attack, including a woman in critical condition. 'Israel's' emergency service said a 30-year-old woman is in critical condition and 'clinically dead,' while a man is in very serious condition. The 'Israeli' military said in an initial statement that it had received a report of gunfire near the settlement of Bruchin and that forces were examining the details of the incident. Medical sources confirmed that a woman in her thirties was critically injured, and a man in his forties sustained serious wounds.

Red Cross receives U.S.-"Israeli" captive Edan Alexander

The International Committee of the Red Cross received US-"Israeli" captive Edan Alexander, May 12, after Hamas announced his release as part of ongoing ceasefire negotiations with the United States. In a statement issued yesterday, Abu Obaida, the spokesperson for Hamas' armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, confirmed the move: 'The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades announced on Monday, May 12, 2025, that they had decided to release soldier with an American citizenship Edan Alexander.' His release comes amid a renewed US-brokered effort to reach a ceasefire agreement that would end the seven-month 'Israeli' assault on the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in tens of thousands of Palestinian deaths and a deepening humanitarian crisis. On Sunday, Hamas announced it would release Alexander as a 'goodwill gesture' in talks involving Washington. The group has consistently tied the release of captives to a broader agreement that includes a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of 'Israeli' forces, and the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes. US President Donald Trump welcomed the news, expressing optimism that more progress could follow.

Red Cross en route to receive Edan Alexander

According to a Roya correspondent, Red Cross vehicles have moved from their headquarters in Al-Mawasi, Gaza to receive the captive Edan Alexander. Earlier, Abu Obaida, the spokesperson for Al-Qassam Brigades — the military wing of Hamas — announced that the resistance had decided to release the American-"Israeli" soldier held in Gaza, Edan Alexander, on Monday. Meanwhile, a Hamas source told Agence France-Presse that intermediaries had informed the movement that the "Israeli" military had begun suspending its operations in Gaza in preparation for the handover of the American-"Israeli" captive, Edan Alexander. The source explained that "starting at 9:30 AM (Jerusalem time), the 'Israeli' military halted the flights of warplanes, surveillance, and drones, in addition to suspending all combat operations inside the Strip, to secure a safe corridor for the transfer and handover of Edan." According to Reuters, citing a source familiar with the matter, the 'Israeli' vehicles are heading to a designated location in preparation for Alexander's handover.
