Former Tiger, Clemson pro Logan Davidson makes his MLB Debut for the Oakland Athletics

Former Tiger, Clemson pro Logan Davidson makes his MLB Debut for the Oakland Athletics Former Clemson standout Logan Davidson made his MLB debut Saturday night, entering as a pinch-runner for the Oakland Athletics against the Philadelphia Phillies. With the appearance, Davidson became the 73rd former Tiger to play in the big leagues—and the sixth to do so in 2025. The Charlotte native also etched his name into program history alongside his father, Mark Davidson, a former big leaguer who spent six seasons with the Twins and Astros from 1986 to 1991. The Davidsons are now the first father-son duo from Clemson to reach Major League Baseball. During his three years at Clemson from 2017 to 2019, Davidson started all 187 games at shortstop and established himself as one of the program's top players in recent memory. A switch-hitter and two-time All-ACC performer, he batted .290 with 42 home runs, 45 doubles, 142 RBIs, 171 runs scored and 37 stolen bases. He remains the only Tiger to record double-digit home runs and steals in three different seasons. In 2019, Davidson served as team co-captain and earned first-team Academic All-America honors while being named ACC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He posted a .291 average with 15 home runs, 55 RBIs and 17 steals that season. A year earlier, he was a third-team All-American after hitting .292 with 15 homers and 46 RBIs. He was also recognized as a first-team freshman All-American in 2017. A standout in the classroom, Davidson completed his management degree in just six semesters, graduating in May 2019 with a 3.99 GPA. He earned all As except for one B during his academic career. The Athletics selected him 29th overall in the first round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Davidson spent five seasons in Oakland's system before his call-up, including a strong showing in Triple-A Las Vegas in 2025, where he hit .303 with a .452 on-base percentage, two homers and 22 RBIs in 41 games. Over 524 minor league games, he compiled a .259 average with 52 homers, 251 RBIs and 33 steals. With Davidson's debut, Clemson continued its streak of producing big-league talent—every Tiger team from 1974 through 2021 featured at least one future MLB player. -Some information provided by Clemson Athletic Communications Contact us @Clemson_Wire on X, and like our page on Facebook for ongoing coverage of Clemson Tigers news and notes, plus opinions

Fans React To Travis Hunter's Final Moment with Colorado

There's no doubt that after winning the Heisman Trophy in 2024, two-way star Travis Hunter left a mark on the Colorado Buffaloes that will be remembered for a very long time. Now, though, he's set to embark on the next chapter in his football career after being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which ties former fullback Bo Matthews for the highest pick in Colorado history. Advertisement However, on Thursday, in a video posted by Colorado Football's X account, it shows Hunter back in Boulder, but not for anything football related, and rather to walk across the stage and receive his degree in Anthropology. Of course, it's not as though every player who makes the NFL ends up graduating from college, and many social media users are now praising Hunter for the big achievement. "Great job, Trav! Congratulations" said one comment. "Salute to this! This should go viral but they're more concerned with showing him with some money," said another. "This is what it's all about!" a third added. Advertisement A fourth stated, "Thas super hard! Congratulations fellas!" "Most important part" a fifth continued. "Just an ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN gettin' his diploma congrats @TravisHunterJr !!!! #skobuffs," said another. He won't have the opportunity to relish in the moment too long, because on Friday, he is set to report to the Jaguars' rookie mini-camp, which will run through Sunday and give the team a first look at their first-round pick in action. Travis Hunter News Surfaces Before 2025 NFL Season

The Jacksonville Jaguars took one of the biggest swings in the 2025 NFL Draft by trading up to the No. 2 overall pick to draft Travis Hunter. The former two-way standout at Colorado had a phenomenal season that saw him walk away with the Heisman Trophy and seven other major awards, and will now attempt to be a full-time wide receiver and cornerback at the NFL level. Advertisement While it hasn't really been done in the modern era, the Jacksonville Jaguars have a plan in place that will see him focus on receiver first before eventually working in with the defense the same amount. Although Hunter is the new face of the franchise, it was revealed that he has one more item of business to handle in Boulder. As revealed by NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, Hunter will be making a return to Colorado this week so he can walk for graduation. "From what I'm told, Travis Hunter will walk his graduation stage on Thursday at Colorado," Wolfe said. "Friday, he'll head to Jacksonville, where he'll have rookie minicamp." Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Travis Lee-Imagn Images Aside from being extremely accomplished on the football field, Hunter also happens to be a star in the classroom. Advertisement Before the draft, Hunter revealed that his GPA at Colorado was in the range of 3.7-3.9. In addition to his excellent GPA, Hunter was also named Academic All-American of the Year and earned first-team Academic All-America honors both of his years at Colorado. According to his profile on Colorado's roster, Hunter majored in psychology during his time in Boulder. Related: Travis Hunter Is All Over Social Media After Colorado GPA Surfaces Before NFL Draft

Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers College GPAs Compared Before WNBA Draft

After leading the UConn Huskies to a national championship win, Paige Bueckers has landed in New York City, where she is expected to go No. 1 overall to the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Bueckers etched her name into NCAA history over five seasons at UConn. The 6-foot point guard from Minnesota led the Huskies to four Final Four appearances, and after falling short in the first three, she capped her college career with a championship in her final season. Advertisement Unlike Bueckers, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, could not pull off a title in her four seasons with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Although Clark led Iowa to two consecutive national championships (2023, 2024), she was unable to seal the deal, falling to LSU and South Carolina. Clark did, however, eliminate Bueckers and UConn in the 2024 Final Four. Paige Bueckers and Caitlin ClarkKirby Lee-Imagn Images While Clark doesn't have the titles, she does have the records. Tallying 3,951 points, Clark became the NCAA's all-time leading scoring leader, passing LSU's Pete Maravich. Despite not winning a championship, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year also scored the most points in NCAA Tournament history, a record Bueckers nearly broke this year. During her standout career at Iowa, Clark, a marketing major, finished her senior season (2023-24) with a 3.64 GPA, earning Academic All-America honors for a third straight year. This award acknowledges 'college student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom.' She also repeated as Academic All-America Team Member of the Year. Joining Clark on the list that season was Bueckers, who earned her first Academic All-America honors during 2023–24, just a year after an ACL injury sidelined her for an entire season. Earning her bachelor's degree in human development & family sciences, Bueckers finished that season with a 3.50 GPA, just shy of Clark's mark. However, the fifth year did earn an impressive 3.930 GPA in the Fall 2023 semester. Advertisement Final GPAs for the 2024-25 season, Bueckers included, have not been revealed at the time of this article. Still, despite all the records Clark has accumulated, Bueckers has the one thing she's still chasing: a championship. But with a reloaded Fever roster and new coach Stephanie White, Clark could be contending for a title once again.
