Apple's Foundation Sets Season 3 Release Date After 2-Year Hiatus — Plus, Watch a New Teaser

After nearly two years off the air and a number of behind-the-scenes snags, Foundation will be back at last this summer. The sci-fi epic will return to Apple TV+ for its third season on Friday, July 11, the streamer announced Wednesday. The 10-episode season will roll out weekly on Fridays through Sept. 12; you can watch a teaser for the new installments above. More from TVLine The Office Spinoff Gets Official Title and Premiere Month at Peacock - Plus, Oscar Returns in First Photo! Owen Wilson Stars in Apple TV+ Golf Comedy Stick - Watch Trailer, Get Premiere Date Save the Dates: Acapulco's Final Season, Love Island USA's Return and More Foundation, which last dropped a fresh episode back in September 2023, follows a band of exiles on their journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. According to the official synopsis, Season 3 picks up 152 years after the events of the sophomore finale, and The Foundation has become 'increasingly established' while the Cleonic Dynasty's Empire has dwindled. 'As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as The Mule (now played by Game of Thrones alum Pilou Asbæk), whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force, as well as mind control,' the logline continues. 'It's anyone's guess who will win, who will lose, who will live and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess.' Foundation initially scored a Season 3 renewal at Apple less than three months after Season 2 ended, but the series hit several roadblocks during Season 3 production. Filming was first paused due to the dual Hollywood strikes in 2023, then was delayed a second time due to 'issues with budgeting and physical production,' per our sister site Deadline. Additionally, series co-creator David S. Goyer stepped back from his duties as showrunner during the hiatus, with executive producer Bill Bost overseeing production instead; Goyer remained creatively involved, though, exec-producing Season 3 and contributing scripts. Apple TV+ axes six shows including one with perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes

The lineup for Apple TV+ has been announced for the autumn season Apple TV+ has revealed its lineup for the next season, and it means the end of six shows on the streaming platform. Several fan favourite programmes have been given the green light for a new series, including Trying, starring Rafe Spall and Esther Smith, Seth Rogan's smash hit Studio and German dark comedy series Where's Wanda? There will also be a raft of new content, with upcoming possible hit s in the shape of The Wild Ones and Chief of war. ‌ As 2025-2026 shapes up to be a belter for Apple TV+, channel chiefs will be hoping for a repeat of smash hit originals which caught the attention of fans across the globe, including Ted Lasso and the recent sci-fi hit Severance, which has surpassed the former as the platform's most watched show of this year. ‌ Severance has been renewed for another series, which is sure to delight its army of die-hard fans. Other viewers could be left a bit disappointed by the news that six shows face the axe, which are Acapulco, Mythic Quest, Schmigadoon!, Still Up, Sunny, and Time Bandits, many of which were big hitters among critics and viewers alike. Acapulco, an American comedy series centred around the gorgeous Las Colinas was a huge success and has a near perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes but it's not going to continue after its fourth season. Out of those facing the chop, there are three that were in production for just one season. These include Still Up, a British drama about two friends who bond over insomnia. Also heading for the cutting room floor are fantasy adventure Time Bandits, which is based on characters from the 1981 film of the same name, and Sunny, Rashida Jones' sci-fi set in Japan which follows a women whose husband and son have vanished after a mysterious pane crash. Jones spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about how she wishes more people had seen the programme, which also has a 90 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. ‌ She said: 'I wish there was a little bit more awareness about our show. Not gonna lie. "I think [Sunny] is finding its audience because people seem to like it and a lot of people talk to me about it. What [Apple] do have is they have really good taste, and they do make really good shows." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The musical comedy fantasy series features a busy cast led by Saturday Night Live's Cecily Strong and comedian Keegan-Michael Key. Mythic Quest, axed after four seasons, is a comedy series which follows a video game developer team and it's the brainchild of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day. The programme ended on March 26 and in a rare move, show runners were allowed to edit it to give fans closure over the cliffhanger ending. Day and the creators said via Deadline: 'Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, Mythic Quest is coming to a close. We're so proud of the show and the world we got to build—and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning. "Because endings are hard, with Apple's blessing we made one final update to our last episode—so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over."

6 bystanders killed in crossfire of armed clashes near resort city of Acapulco

Clashes between two armed groups left six civilians dead near Mexico's crime-plagued beachside city of Acapulco, authorities said Tuesday. The violence erupted on Monday night in a town called Kilometro 30 located on a highway to Mexico City, the Guerrero state prosecutor's office said in a statement. The victims were five men and an elderly woman who were caught in the crossfire, said municipal commissioner Adan Casarrubias. Three people were injured. Soldiers and police found weapons in an armored vehicle in the town, where several cars were set ablaze. Armed men in at least three vehicles were involved in the confrontation, which terrified residents, Casarrubias said. "Even if it's with pans, sticks, or whatever, we're going to fight for our town," he said. Officials said a long-barreled weapon, magazines, cartridges, seven vehicles (including an armored truck), tire-puncturing weapons and five improvised explosive devices were seized during the investigation. Once-thriving beach resort now blighted by violence In its heyday in the 1950s and 60s, Acapulco was a playground of the rich and famous. Today the city once known as "the pearl of the Pacific" is engulfed by violence linked to drug cartels. On Thursday, the administrator of a Facebook news page was gunned down in Acapulco. Lst December, a judge was shot dead in his car outside an Acapulco courthouse. In May 2024, 10 bodies were found scattered around the city. A month before that, the head of traffic police was shot to death when assailants opened fire on him on a street relatively far away from the resort's beaches. In February 2024, two men were found dead on a popular beach in Acapulco, and prosecutors said the men's bodies bore "signs of torture around the neck." That same month, three people were shot dead on beaches in Acapulco, one by gunmen who arrived -- and escaped -- aboard a boat. Acapulco is part of the state of Guerrero, one of the worst affected by drug trafficking in the country. It is among six states in Mexico that the U.S. State Department advises Americans to completely avoid, citing crime and violence.

Aldi launches garden furniture dupe of must-have designer item but for £40 less

ALDI is flogging a stylish garden chair that looks just like a top-end designer version — but it's nearly £40 cheaper. The budget supermarket has launched its Garden Design String Chair for just £24.99, and shoppers will be rushing to grab it ahead of summer. 2 It's a near match for the New Acapulco garden chair, which is made from steel and synthetic wicker and usually goes for £80.95. Even with a current discount to £66.95, Aldi's version still comes in at over £40 less. The Aldi chair comes in two stylish shades — plum or lily pad — and features UV-resistant wickerwork and powder-coated steel legs. It measures 74 x 70 x 96cm and is designed for both indoor and outdoor use, meaning you can enjoy it rain or shine. It's landing in stores from Thursday, May 22, but like all Specialbuys, stock is limited — and once it's gone, it's gone. Shoppers after that luxury garden look on a budget will need to move fast, as Aldi's designer dupes are known to sell out in record time. The string chair is part of Aldi's summer garden range, which regularly features stylish, low-cost alternatives to pricey high-street and designer brands. Aldi's Specialbuys are known for offering brilliant value on everything from garden furniture to kitchen gadgets. But the most popular products often sell out quickly, so it's worth signing up to Aldi's mailing list to get a heads-up on what's coming. Plus, keep an eye out for those special red-tagged reductions in-store — often applied when Aldi clears stock at even lower prices. It is also important to remember to always shop around when buying something like this as you might find a cheaper alternative. Websites like Trolley and Price Spy let you compare thousands of products across different retailers to find the best price. Price Spy even lets you see how much an item has cost over time. A quick scan on the Google Shopping/Product tab will also bring up how much retailers are selling a certain item for too. Previous garden sales Recently, shoppers raced to Aldi after it dropped its latest garden must-haves — with prices starting from just £2.79. Elsewhere, B&M released a number of garden furniture pieces — including a Sienna double egg chair for £250 and a Paris 2-Seater Pod Chair also priced at £250. Argos has also slashed prices on outdoor and DIY essentials with discounts of up to £60. And earlier this year, Wilko dropped prices on patio sets, lounge chairs and bistro sets ahead of summer. In February, Dunelm had a huge clearance sale with discounts of up to 75% on hundreds of items. And most homeware stores hold sales in the summer. Last summer, Dobbies launched a huge sale with prices slashed by up to 50% on garden furniture, plants, and homeware. How to save money when shopping at Aldi Unlike other major grocers, Aldi does not have a rewards or point card system but that does not mean you cannot save on your shop. Every week the store releases a list of special buys, which are unique bargain products you find online at Aldi and in store. The store releases a fresh range of deals every Thursday and Sunday, so be sure to check regularly to see what's new. Meanwhile, the store also regularly sells fruit and vegetables at highly discounted prices, as part of its 'super six' deal. It also does weekly saving offers on typically pricey items such as meat and fish. Plus, it's worth keeping an eye out for products with red stickers on them. These are added to items that have been reduced due to them being close to their best before date or slightly damaged. The best time to get these reduced products is towards the end. When's the best time to shop at Aldi? WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy. For reduced items - when shops open Red sticker items are rare at Aldi's 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found - if you're quick. A spokesman for the supermarket said: "All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates." That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as it opens. Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store's times by using the supermarket's online shop finder tool. For Specialbuys - Thursdays and Sundays Specialbuys are Aldi's weekly collection of items that it doesn't normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools. New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals. For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store's opening time. Remember: once they're gone, they're gone, so if there's something you really want, visit as early as possible
