Couple wins $631,000 in Pembroke hospital lottery
Pembroke – A Pembroke couple is $631,661 richer after they caught the Ace of Spades last week in the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation's Catch the Ace lottery. It was week 39 for the draw. The lucky winners are Mary-Beth and Denis Goyette. Their winning ticket was drawn from the online electronic generator with their choice of card #44 revealing the Ace of Spades! 'Best call ever!,' an excited Mary-Beth told Foundation staff. 'I was speechless when Roger said we'd caught the Ace of Spades - a life changer.' She was referring to Foundation Executive Roger Martin, and staff member Leigh Costello 'I was born at PRH 44 years ago so #44 is a fantastic number for sure,' she added. Mr. Martin said the lottery raised an incredible $1,006,408 for the hospital. 'We are super excited that everyone who took part in this round of Catch the Ace has been able to see how successful only 39 weeks can be, which can only make the next Catch the Ace that much more exciting,' he said. 'Every ticket sold helps our hospital, so thank you all. A huge congratulations to Mary-Beth and Denis for their big win and catching that elusive Ace of Spades.' Over the course of the 39-week lottery, an incredible $374,747 in weekly prizes was presented to 38 winners with the jackpot of $631,661 going to the grand prize winners. 'This latest edition of the PRH Foundation's Catch the Ace lottery not only helped to generate over one million dollars for our hospital, but it also created a great deal of excitement throughout our region,' said PRH President and CEO Sabine Mersmann. Citing the value of diagnostic equipment which will be purchased with a portion of the funds as well as other equipment purchases which will enhance the patient experience, Mrs. Mersmann expressed her gratitude to all who participated in lottery and ultimately supported hospital improvements. Looking a little bit deeper, we can also presume that East has either the J♠️ or ♠️Q, as West may well have preferred to lead a Spade if he'd been dealt both of those. So give East, ♠️A,J, ♦️K, J 10 and ♣️Q, and we can safely presume he hasn't got the ♥️Q too, as that would be an opening bid in any system. South therefore proceeded to finesse West for the trump Queen, and was rewarded with a satisfying +620.

But the Giants signed free agents Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in the offseason, mostly filling their needs at the position for this season. The Titans were long sold on Miami quarterback Cam Ward, who they took first overall on Thursday night. Then, the Browns decided to trade down in the draft - giving the Jacksonville Jaguars the second pick. Jacksonville chose to draft Sanders' teammate, Heisman winner Travis Hunter, second overall instead. Rather than bulking up the QB position with Sanders, the Giants made a smart decision and took the best available player in the draft: Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter. The Browns, with the fifth pick they got from Jacksonville, also took a defensive lineman in Michigan product Mason Graham. As the first round ticked on, it seemed that any chance for Sanders to be picked rested on the hope that a team would trade up to take him. All season long at Colorado, he showed off his prowess as a pocket passer, benefited from a great connection with Hunter and tossed for over 4,100 yards and for 37 touchdowns. While his willingness to take contact in order to make plays is a sign that he's good in uncomfortable situations in the pocket. When the pocket holds up, his accuracy and arm strength makes him a threat in short, medium, and long-range passes. But he's been prone to taking sacks in the name of making plays and doesn't use his athleticism to avoid hits as much as he should.
