FIRST ALERT WEATHER: A few morning showers ahead of more midday, afternoon showers
This morning, we are tracking a few showers pushing north. Wet roads in spots for the AM commute A few heavy downpours are possible throughout the afternoon. Embedded storm is likely at times. Highs today will be in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. A few showers will linger into this evening, but generally we will be drying out. Tomorrow will bring a hot day in the lower to mid 90s. Feels like temperatures will be about 100 in the afternoon. Only isolated showers and storms on Friday afternoon. TROPICS: The weak area of low pressure that will develop north/northeast of Jacksonville is not expected to become tropical. Still monitoring Gulf &/or Western Caribbean for possible long-range development but nothing is out there right now. Always more: 'Talking the Tropics With Mike.' TODAY: Cloudy and humid. FIRST ALERT WEATHER: A few showers this afternoon before widespread rain this week
This morning, we are tracking partly to mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the 60s inland and 70s along the coast. Humidity isn't too bad to start the day. Highs today will reach the mid to upper 80s Humidity increases this afternoon and a few showers will develop and head inland off the Atlantic. A few downpours are possible. Wednesday & Thursday look wet with mostly cloudy skies & scattered showers. An embedded storm is possible. Still a few showers/storms around on Friday and into the weekend in the afternoons. Rainfall totals will likely be 1-2″+ closer to the coast and 1+ inches well inland through Friday. An area of weak low pressure will develop by midweek northeast of Jacksonville and near the coast of the Carolina's. While this area has been highlighted in yellow by the NHC for a low risk of development, there will be few if any direct impacts to Jax/NE Fl./SE Ga. Tropical moisture will bring showers & storms to the local area with or without any low pressure actually developing. Keeping an eye on the Western Caribbean & Southern Gulf for possible longer range tropical development – not likely until at least sometime next week, if at all. Park enhancements are underway in Jacksonville Beach
Exciting new park projects are in progress at Jacksonville Beach. Friday Forecast: A few afternoon and evening storms before a drier weekend
Friday starts off mild and muggy with temperatures in the 70s. We're tracking highs in the lower 90s by the afternoon, and the first half of the day will be dry. We can expect a few showers and storms by early afternoon. A line of storms may arrive near, or just before, sunset. Clouds will decrease early Saturday, giving way to sunshine for the bulk of the day. The weekend is looking mainly dry with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. Woman shot in head, shoulder at Southside Dunkin' Donuts
A woman was listed in stable condition Tuesday after she was shot in the drive-thru of a fast-food eatery on Jacksonville's Southside. The shooting occurred at about 5:35 p.m. at Dunkin' Donuts, 7005 Gate Parkway. Officers were called to the location in response to a person who was shot, a Jacksonville police news release states. "Officers arrived quickly on scene and located an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder and the back of the head," the news release states. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Investigators learned that the woman was riding in the vehicle with the shooter when they entered the drive-thru of the restaurant, the news release states. 'An argument ensued inside the vehicle and the victim exited the suspects vehicle,' the news release states. 'The suspect then fired two times at the victim striking her in the shoulder and the back of the head.' Police said the woman was able to run inside the business and call 911. The suspect's vehicle was located soon after the incident and police pulled it over. The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was taken into custody.
