The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team is tracking scattered showers and storms ahead of the weekend. Notes from the meteorologist: At least a couple rounds of showers & storms tonight. (1) widely scattered fast-moving showers & storms early this evening ending by at least sunset. (2) A line of showers & storms across Georgia will move south & east entering SE Ga. by 8-9pm & crossing into NE Fl. & Jacksonville about 10pm-midnight. Some of the storms will be heavy & a couple may become severe but with a general weakening trend late this evening. Saturday will begin with clouds, but much drier air will quickly move in, bringing sunshine & more comfortable temps. Highs Saturday & Sunday will be in the upper 80s while lows will fall well down into the 60s… even a few 50s north & west of Jacksonville! The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team is tracking showers and thunderstorms Thursday evening before a similar weather day on Friday. Notes from the meteorologist: The afternoon has been partly sunny with temperatures. in the 80s at the beaches to the low to mid 90s inland. Storms are firing well inland & moving N/NE & will overspread the viewing area into the early evening. There will be areas of very heavy rain, gusty winds & frequent lightning. A few of the strongest storms may produce wind gusts 50+ mph & some hail. Friday will again be hot & humid with scattered showers & storms at just about anytime, but most likely in the afternoon lasting well into the evening as a cool front approaches. The weekend will be very nice with much lower humidity, allowing overnight lows to fall well down into the 60s… even some 50s for inland SE Ga. while afternoon highs reach the upper 80s. The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team is tracking a mostly clear rest of the holiday weekend, before a hot, humid, and rainy stretch. Only isolated showers or storms will develop Monday evening, moving toward the east between 5 and 9 pm or so. Temperatures sit in the 90s inland and 85-90 at the beaches through sunset, before dropping to near 70 by sunrise. The workweek will be hot under partly sunny skies with highs in the 90s. Only isolated afternoon storms Tuesday will increase to widely scattered to scattered for Wednesday and Thursday. An approaching cool front will increase rain & storm chances for Friday. The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team is tracking a stormy afternoon across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. Concerns about the weather prompted organizers of Jazz Fest in Jacksonville to delay the event for hours. The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team is tracking a nice night ahead, and a great opportunity to open up your windows. Notes from the meteorologist: Lows will near 60 by morning inland, to the upper 60s at the coast. Friday will be warm but still with comfortable humidity as highs top out in the low 80s at the beaches to around 90 inland. The holiday weekend will become increasingly humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Saturday will be dry while an isolated storm may form late Sunday. But the vast majority of the day will remain dry. There will be a higher risk for a few afternoon thunderstorms on Memorial Day, but coverage still looks to be less than half the area as afternoon highs reach the low 90s with feel-like temperatures approaching 100 degrees.
