Suzuki e-Access vs Honda Activa e: comparison. The electric scooter segment in India is heating up. Two legacy manufacturers, Honda and Suzuki, have finally entered the space, bringing in the electrified versions of one of their most popular nameplates in the country. While Honda has already launched its first electric scooter, the Activa e:, Suzuki is preparing to announce the pricing of the e-Access soon. Despite following a very different approach for their electrification strategy, both scooters will lock horns in the market and here's how these models stack up against each other in terms of battery, range, power output and more. Honda Activa e: vs Suzuki e-Access: Battery & range The Honda Activa e: comes with two swappable 1.5 kWh lithium-ion batteries paired with a 6 kW motor that churns out 22 Nm of torque. It claims a range of 102 km on a single charge and reaches a top speed of 80 kmph. But instead of offering home charging, Honda provides access to its e:SWAP stations where riders can exchange their depleted batteries with fully charged ones. On the other hand, Suzuki's e-Access opts for a fixed battery setup, using a 3.07 kWh LFP battery that offers a certified range of 95 km. The electric motor produces 4.1 kW of power and 15 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 71 kmph. Suzuki provides multiple charging options: at home, it takes about 6 hours and 42 minutes for a full charge using the portable charger, while a DC fast charger can juice it up fully in just 2 hours and 12 minutes. Honda Activa e: vs Suzuki e-Access: Features Feature-wise, the Honda Activa e: comes equipped with a large 7-inch TFT screen and connected tech via the Honda RoadSync Duo app, offering features like navigation, calls, music control, live tracking, and maintenance alerts. It also includes three riding modes: Econ, Standard, and Sport. Other highlights include a USB charging port, all-LED lighting, and fast charging support. Honda Activa e: vs Suzuki e-Access: Pricing When it comes to pricing, the Honda Activa e: starts at Rs 1.17 lakh, ex-showroom, for the standard variant, while the more tech-laden RoadSync Duo variant costs Rs 1.52 lakh. The Suzuki e-Access is all set to be launched in India in the coming days and it is poised to take on rivals like the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and the relatively new Honda Activa e: Now, the Honda Activa e: and the Suzuki e-Access are the first electric scooters for India from the respective legacy manufacturers and both are late entrants in India's electric scooter segment and have their work cut out against rivals models. We take a look at how the e-Access and the Activa e: stack up against each other on paper. Both scooters are family-oriented scooters and are not overly sporty. Starting with the Activa e:, it is powered by a 6 kW motor and gets two swappable batteries of 1.5 kWh, offering a claimed range of 102 km on a single charge. The motor on the Activa e: makes peak power of 6 kW and peak torque of 22 Nm. There is no provision to charge the depleted batteries on the Activa e: On the other hand, the Suzuki e-Access gets a 3.072 kWh LFP battery, which offers a claimed IDC range of 95 km and the motor makes 4.1 kW and 15 Nm. The Activa e: has a top speed of 80 kmph while the e-Access has a top speed of 71 kmph. There isn't much of a difference when it comes to the range and top speed of both scooters. The Suzuki e-Access weighs 122 kg, has a seat height of 765 mm and ground clearance of 160 mm. On the other hand, the Activa e: is 3 kg lighter and has a ground clearance of 171 mm, which is 11 mm more than that of the e-Access. The seat height on the Activa e: is unofficially 766 mm, more or less the same as the e-Access. Now the e-Access has a decent underseat storage area but the Activa e: doesn't have any because of the swappable batteries. Suzuki e-Access vs Honda Activa e: Features In terms of features, the e-Access full LED lighting, 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends, a seat height of 765 mm, and a kerb weight of 122 kg. The scooter gets a disc brake up front and a drum brake at the rear. There is a 4.2-inch TFT LCD console along with Bluetooth/app connectivity, three riding modes and a USB charging port as well. The Honda Activa e: gets a 7-inch TFT screen along with optional Honda Road Sync App connectivity, three riding modes, a reverse mode and full LED lighting. Suzuki e-Access vs Honda Activa e: Charging This is where both scooters operate very differently. Using the portable charger, the Suzuki e-Access can be charged to 80 per cent in 4 hours and 30 minutes, and to 100 per cent in 6 hours and 42 minutes. The DC fast charger significantly reduces downtime, achieving 80 per cent in just 1 hour and 12 minutes, and a full charge in 2 hours and 12 minutes. On the other hand, Honda offers battery as a subscription on the Activa e: since it doesn't get chargeable batteries, only swappable batteries. The basic plan comes at a monthly rental of Rs. 1,999+GST, allowing 35 kWh of energy. This is ideal for riders who use the e-scooter for 40 kilometres or less in a day. The advanced plan is suitable for those who ride up to 100 km a day. The monthly rental for advance plan is Rs. 3,599+GST for 87 kWh. Suzuki e-Access vs Honda Activa e: Prices The Honda Activa e: is offered in two variants - Standard and Road Sync. The former is priced at Rs. 1.17 lakh while the latter is priced at Rs. 1.52 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices for the Suzuki e-Access are yet to be revealed.

Ahmedabad (Anirban Mitra): Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) is committed to claiming the top position in the domestic market and is investing heavily in facility expansion. The company has globally achieved the 50 crore vehicle production milestone, rolling the landmark unit out of the Vithalapur facility in Gujarat. Minoru Kato, executive officer, of Honda Motor Company, said, "We are aiming for the largest market share in India by creating a production environment that meets the needs of evolving customers. We are investing Rs 920 crore in the expansion of Vithalapur Plant. This will increase HSMI's annual production to 70 lakh units by 2027." The company has four plants across India with a current installed capacity of 61 lakh per annum. Manesar facility in Haryana has an annual production capacity of 3.8 lakh units, while Tapukara in Rajasthan can produce 13 lakh units. The dedicated EV plant in Narsapura in Karnataka can manufacture 25 lakh units per year. Revealing the company's performance, the top official said HMSI sold 53.26 million (excluding EVs) in FY25, recording 28.3 per cent market share. On the back of strong performance of Activa, Shine and other mass market products, HMSI could narrow its gap from Hero MotoCorp. Karo sounded bullish on India's instrumental role in Honda's aim to touch 6 crore-sales figure annually in the global two-wheeler market by 2030. Electric Vehicles: HMSI launched Activa e: and QC1 in India earlier in 2025. The QC1 comes with a fixed battery while the Activa e: comes with two swappable batteries which can't be charged externally at residence or workplace. Honda Power has installed e: Swap stations in Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR as part of phase 1 where customers can replace the drained-out batteries with fresh ones. Kato said, "The battery health in electric vehicles degenerates over the years of usage. We believe customers will accept the swapping model as Honda is responsible for charging and warranty of the batteries." Honda two-wheeler's Kato said the company plans to launch at least one electric model globally every year and India's Narsapura plant can become an EV export hub. HMSI will construct a dedicated EV plant within premises of its third plant in Karnataka which will be fully operational by 2028. Honda unveiled two electric motorcycle concepts, 'EV Fun' and 'EV Urban', at the EICMA last year. The commercialisation and sales of these sporty offerings will commence in Europe in the second half of 2025. Honda is late to join the EV party in India, but Tsutsumu Otani as president, CEO and MD, HMSI showed clear intent to rise to the apex EV motorcycle market. "The electric two-wheeler market in India is gradually growing. Around 12 lakh electric two-wheelers were sold in India in FY25. We aim for the number 1 position in the EV two-wheeler segment in coming years." On the EV front, Honda is working on multiple models by standardising and combining modules, which will contribute to cost reduction. India will act as an export hub for Honda, and Otani said the modularised models will be produced at the Narsapura facility from 2028.

Honda aims to strengthen its dominance in the global motorcycle market, leveraging record-breaking sales and a bold push into electrification. In FY25, Honda achieved motorcycle unit sales of 20.57 million, capturing approximately 40% of the global market and setting an all-time record across 37 countries and territories.
