32.5 Million Engines Later, Honda's Ohio Plant Turns 40

Honda is celebrating 40 years of engine production at its Anna Engine Plant in Ohio. What started as a modest motorcycle engine facility in the mid-80s has grown into the company's largest engine plant in the world. As Honda shifts toward hybrid and electric power, shown by models like the new hybrid Prelude, the Anna plant is evolving to keep pace with the future of mobility. Since opening its doors in 1985, the Anna Engine Plant has built over 32.5 million engines. That includes everything from basic four-cylinders for the Civic to high-output V6s found in Acura performance cars and SUVs. Back then, it was a 200,000 square-foot facility with fewer than 100 workers. Today, it covers 2.8 million square feet and supports nearly 3,000 employees. The plant currently produces a wide range of four-cylinder and V6 engines, including turbocharged and hybrid variants. It also makes essential components like cylinder heads, camshafts, crankshafts, and the precision pulleys used in Honda's CVTs. Engines from Anna have powered some of Honda's most iconic vehicles. The plant builds the 190-hp 1.5-liter turbo used in the Civic, Accord, CR-V, and Acura Integra, as well as the 315-hp 2.0-liter turbo found in the Civic Type R and Integra Type S. It even produced the 500-hp 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that lived in the second-generation Acura NSX supercar. But Anna's output isn't all about performance. It's also behind the hybrid engines that help fuel-efficient models like the Accord and CR-V deliver impressive fuel economy. It's clear as day that the Anna Engine Plant has played a huge role in shaping Honda and Acura's lineup across North America. While gas and hybrid engines are still a major focus, Anna is already preparing for Honda's next chapter. The plant has started producing aluminum battery cases for upcoming EVs, using cutting-edge processes like megacasting, Minimum Quantity Lubrication machining, and friction stir welding. These battery cases will be shipped to the Marysville Auto Plant, where they'll be paired with battery modules to power the next generation of Honda and Acura electric vehicles, including the Honda Prologue. Full EV production is set to begin in Ohio in 2026. With four decades of experience and a clear role in Honda's future, the Anna Engine Plant continues to be a key part of the company's evolution. There's ONE Day Left To Buy This 5k-Mile 2001 Acura Integra Type R

There's ONE Day Left To Buy This 5k-Mile 2001 Acura Integra Type R originally appeared on Autoblog. Is there a more desirable Integra than this one? Probably not Although the current Acura Integra is a great car in isolation, it has failed to capture the imagination of Honda and Acura enthusiasts the way older Integras have, specifically the third-generation model that first arrived in the 1990s. Now, one of the most desirable Integras ever is up for auction on Bring A Trailer. This 2001 Type R has ultra-low miles, is in impeccable condition, and is one of not many to be built for the U.S. market. The combination of these factors has created a heated bidding war that is now deep into six figures. From Under $25k To At Least $120k View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article When purchased new in Illinois, this 2001 Acura Integra Type R had a total price of $24,930. Around 25 years later, the current bid for this iconic compact is sitting at $120,000. You can buy two brand-new Integra Type S models with a 355-horsepower V6 and still have plenty left over for that amount. There's still something irreplaceable about this 2001 model's four rounded headlights, sporty two-door shape, and cheeky rear wing, though, especially in this eye-catching Phoenix Yellow paint. The prominent Type R badging makes it instantly recognizable. Under the hood is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated for 195 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque. The buzzy VTEC engine is paired to a sweet five-speed manual gearbox, and there's also a limited-slip differential. At the time, this was considered one of the best-handling front-wheel-drive cars available anywhere, a legacy that Honda continues to live up to with today's Civic Type R. The four-pot has covered just 4,800 miles, which is nothing for this feisty engine that can rev up to 8,400 rpm with Interior View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article Inside, this Type R has a black cloth interior with red stitching on the seats, which also have microsuede inserts. The simple gauges show a tachometer that goes all the way up to 10,000 rpm, a wonderful reminder of high-revving, naturally-aspirated engines. The Acura comes with air conditioning, an audio system with six speakers, power windows, dual front airbags, power mirrors, and a center armrest with the Type R badge. This particular example is #1,086 of just 1,173 examples built for the United States, and it's hard to imagine that any of the others are in better shape. A clean CarFax report and title add peace of mind, as does the fact that the battery and hydraulic fluids were replaced in 2022. The engine oil was last changed back in 2020, so that's something the lucky new owner will want to look at, despite the low mileage. It's going to be fascinating to see if the winning bid exceeds $120k, and we'll know the answer to that soon. 2026 Acura Integra Adds a Bigger Screen and Color-Matched Grille

The 2026 Acura Integra arrives with some updates that include new standard features as well as appearance options. Every Integra now comes with a 9.0-inch touchscreen, and customers can have the grille match the body color. Acura hasn't yet released pricing for the 2026 Integra lineup, but that will be announced before it goes on sale sometime in August. The Acura Integra is the Honda Civic's ritzier cousin, and for the 2026 model year, the former receives a host of updates. Along with netting new standard features, Integra customers now have more options to stylize the subcompact luxury hatchback. For those who want the least expensive Integra, it now comes standard with a 9.0-inch touchscreen (replacing the previous 7.0-inch unit). It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Honda says the infotainment system has a faster processor that should reduce laggy responses. The Integra's interior is also updated with new dashboard trim, and the A-Spec model adds more ambient lighting inside. View Interior Photos Acura Speaking of the A-Spec, its available Orchid interior adds blue faux-suede inserts, while those who choose the Ebony upholstery will inherit new yellow contrast stitching on the door panels, seats, steering wheel, and shift boot. That's not the only new styling update on the 2026 Acura Integra A-Spec. It now wears an assertive body kit, which pairs with a set of black 18-inch wheels featuring a fresh design. The body kit has gloss black spoilers on the sides of the front end, and the side sills also have a sporty-looking element. A trio of paint colors is also new for the 2026 model year. They include Double Apex Blue Pearl, Solar Silver Metallic, and Urban Gray Pearl. For the first time, Integra customers can opt for a color-matched grille; however, they must opt for Double Apex Blue Pearl or Performance Red Pearl. People who don't like the look of that can choose the standard black grille as part of Acura's factory-installed accessories. Similarly, a grille matching cars with Urban Gray Pearl and Platinum White Pearl is also available as an accessory. View Exterior Photos Acura Every 2026 Acura Integra (except for the 315-hp Type S) features a 200-hp 1.5-liter turbo four. Front-wheel drive is standard, and there's a choice between a six-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Those who pick the latter can pretend to shift gears with the steering-wheel-mounted paddles. Acura hasn't yet said how much the 2026 Integra trims will cost. Pricing will be revealed before the hatchback goes on sale sometime in August, but we don't expect to see significant increases. Currently, it starts at $34,196, and the A-Spec and A-Spec Technology start at $36,195 and $39,195, respectively. The 2026 Acura Integra Doesn't Fix What Isn't Broken

There wasn't much not to like about the Acura Integra . It's a practical, efficient hatchback that feels a step above the Honda Civic it's based on, yet more fun and more affordable than the luxury compacts it's up against. Acura would do well to leave well enough alone, and that's what it did for the 2026 Integra. There are a couple tweaks here and there, but fundamentally, this is the Integra we've grown fond of. The biggest upgrade is a new 9.0-inch center infotainment display replacing the older 7.0-inch unit. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring are now standard, too, as is a wireless phone charger, all of which used to be only available on the top-trim A-Spec Technology Package. A gamechanger? Hardly, but nice features that bring the Integra in line with its new crossover sibling, the ADX . Photo by: Acura Inside, the Integra also gets new blue suede inserts for the light Orchid interior trim, and A-Spec models get more ambient lighting and different dash trim. Otherwise, it's much the same, which is a good thing as Acura's European rivals all have been cost-cutting like mad. For exterior changes, the A-Spec trims get a larger splitter, new side skirts, and a new 18-inch wheel design. Additionally, there are three new colors, Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Gray Metallic, and Double Apex Blue Pearl. If you opt for a red or blue Integra A-Spec, you now get a color-matched grille with a black grille available as an accessory; on the flip side, gray and white Integras can also get a color-matched grille as an option. Photo by: Acura Mechanically, the Integra is unchanged. That means you get a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque paired with a continuously-variable transmission. You can get a six-speed manual with the A-Spec Technology package, which also adds adaptive dampers and a limited-slip differential to the mix. If you're able to drive a stick, you should definitely get the six-speed. It's excellent. Acura hasn't announced pricing yet, but hopefully, the 2026 model year won't be too much pricier than the 2025, which starts at $34,195 and climbs up to $39,195 for the A-Spec Technology. The brand is quick to point out that the Integra is built in Honda's Marysville, Ohio plant. So, the vehicle itself isn't exposed to an import tariff, though presumably, at least some of its parts are. We'll see closer to the 2026 Integra's on-sale date. These 10 Performance Upgrades Make the 2025 Honda Civic Si a Solid Sports Sedan

Make the sporty Civic even better The 2025 Honda Civic Si takes the humble compact sedan and gives it a sporty edge. It may not pack neck-breaking power, but with 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque churning from its turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, it is quick enough to keep things fun. In fact, some tests show that it can sprint to 60 mph in around 6.6 seconds. But where the Civic Si really shines is in the corners. 0:07 / 0:09 When will Toyota build an EV with its simulated manual transmission? Watch More 2025 Honda Civic Si — Source: Honda The car's steering is super responsive, especially when it's put in Sport mode, and its firm suspension gives it an edge in the handling department. Unlike its Acura Integra cousin, the Civic Si doesn't have adaptive dampers, but its fixed suspension is well-balanced for everyday commuting and holds up well under slow- and high-speed cornering. However, although the 2025 Civic Si is quite the pocket rocket and really doesn't need anything to be an enjoyable car to drive, it can always be better. For all its strengths, the Civic Si has room to grow. Thanks to plenty of aftermarket support, enthusiasts can dial up the car's power and handling prowess with the right upgrades. If you're looking to take your 2025 Honda Civic Si to the next level, these 10 performance modifications will transform it into a 'Civic Type R lite.' #1. ECU tune or reflash One of the easiest ways to unlock the full potential of the Civic Si's turbocharged 1.5-liter engine is with a performance tune that improves the car's throttle response, increases boost, and adds anywhere from 25 to 40-plus wheel horsepower. Three of the most popular ECU tuners include Hondata, KTuner, and COBB tuning. Autoblog Newsletter Autoblog brings you car news; expert reviews and exciting pictures and video. One way to accomplish this is to install a high-flow intake to help the turbo breathe better. What results is more power and some aggressive intake sounds for more driving excitement. Some popular brands include K&N, Injen, and Takeda, all of which have different types of intake systems and various pricing for them. 2025 Honda Civic Si — Source: Honda #3. Upgraded intercooler The Civic Si comes with an intercooler, but a more efficient intercooler can reduce heat soak and maintain consistent performance under hard driving or track use. According to PRL, a company that produces these upgraded intercoolers, you can expect about a five to 10-horsepower increase over stock. #4. High-flow exhaust system A high-flow exhaust system can uncork the engine by reducing backpressure, allowing the Civic Si to sing with a louder exhaust note. Some exhaust manufacturers claim their systems can add around 10 more horsepower to the Civic's base output. 2025 Honda Civic Si — Source: Honda #5. Lowering springs or coilovers Although the Civic Si handles well in its stock form, its suspension can be upgraded with a set of lowering springs or coilovers. Lowering springs will lower the center of gravity to sharpen its handling and improve the car's stance, while coilovers allow full adjustability for street or track tuning. #6. Lightweight wheels and summer tires Shedding unsprung weight by adding a set of lightweight wheels can improve the Civic Si's handling and performance, while a set of stickier summer tires can improve its grip. Better grip can give the driver more confidence under hard cornering. 2025 Honda Civic Si — Source: Honda #7. Upgraded pads and rotors A set of upgraded brake pads and rotors can give the Civic Si better stopping power. By replacing the stock brake pads with fade-resistant units and the rotors with slotted or drilled ones, the Civic Si will feel more confident when braking before the turns when driving at high speeds. And while some enthusiasts will opt for a big brake kit, that's not completely necessary if you're mainly driving the Civic on the streets with a few track days here and there. #8. Short-throw shifter The 2025 Civic Si has a very smooth shifter from the factory with very good engagement. However, if you're the type of driver who likes the feel of a sports car shifter with a 'click-type' action when going gear to gear, buying a short shifter kit could give the car the shifter feel that you're looking for. 2025 Honda Civic Si — Source: Honda #9. Performance clutch kit With more power comes a greater chance of other parts, like the clutch, slipping. Adding power can overwhelm the stock clutch unit, so it's recommended to get a stronger clutch kit to hold the additional power and give the car a sportier feel at the same time. #10. Strut tower brace and chassis reinforcement Like adding lowering springs or coilovers, adding a strut tower brace and other chassis reinforcements can greatly improve the Civic Si's handling characteristics. Extra bracing can give the car sharper turn-in and reduced body flex during hard cornering, giving the Civic Si a more planted and responsive feel. 2025 Honda Civic Si — Source: Honda Final thoughts Although the 2025 Honda Civic Si is an excellent platform straight out of the factory, it can always be improved upon. A larger intake and exhaust system, ECU tuning, and some suspension work can easily allow it to keep up with the Civic Type R and other rivals on the road. If you're an enthusiast who is looking to extract more performance from your 2025 Civic Si, we recommend starting with these 10 modifications first. About the Author Joe Santos View Profile
