Auburn football, Hugh Freeze get commitment from 4-star 2026 LB Adam Balogoun-Ali

AUBURN — As it tries to make significant strides in recruiting the 2026 class, Auburn football got a notable commitment Tuesday, as Adam Balogoun-Ali, a four-star linebacker from West Palm Beach, Florida, committed to the Tigers. Listed as a four-star prospect by ESPN and Rivals, Balogoun-Ali chose Auburn from a trio of finalists that included Kentucky and Missouri. The box linebacker is considered the third-best prospect in Auburn's 2026 class by both 247Sports and On3, as he's just the third blue-chip pledge in what's now an eight-man class for Hugh Freeze's program. Still, the Tigers are a long way off from securing the top-10 class they desire. Both 247 and On3 rank Auburn's class as the 78th- and 73rd-best groups of the 2026 recruiting cycle, respectively. Both of those rankings are last in the SEC. Adam Cole is the Auburn athletics beat writer for the Montgomery Advertiser. As programs around the SEC have begun to heat up on the recruiting trail, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has been hitting the links. They also came into Tuesday as one of the punchlines of the college football news cycle recently, as a recent report revealed that Freeze had played around a dozen rounds in June. The same month that saw them lose two of their top-ranked commits. With Freeze on the hot seat heading into 2025 after posting an 11-14 record in his first two years on the job, fans around the plains have been hoping to see more. On Tuesday, the golf-loving head coach delivered. Advertisement As announced on X, the Tigers landed a commitment from the No. 1 inside linebacker in the country, Adam Balogoun-Ali. The Florida product chose Auburn over programs such as Miami, Kentucky, North Carolina and Missouri. This past season for Cardinal Newman, Ali recorded 56 total tackles, two sacks and four tackles for a loss. However, there is still work to be done. Some notable programs ahead of the Tigers include Tulane, Toledo, UNLV and App State among others. All it takes is one recruit to get the ball rolling, and maybe for Auburn, this was that recruit.
