Adam targets Harimau Malaya spot after showing stripes in Malaysia Cup final
Pillar at the back: Pahang's Adam Nor Azlin blocking a shot by Johor Darul Ta'zim's Arif Aiman Hanapi during the Malaysia Cup final on Saturday. PETALING JAYA: Pahang centreback Adam Nor Azlin's commanding performance during the recent Malaysia Cup final may lead to his return to the national team. Despite Pahang's narrow 1-2 loss to Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), the 29-year-old stood tall at the back, registering an impressive six tackles and numerous timely interventions to keep the Southern Tigers at bay for large stretches of the match. In fact, the former Harimau Muda star has been a rock throughout the season, making 28 appearances across all competitions and even chipping in with three goals in the Super League, a testament to his versatility and hunger. Adam last featured for Malaysia in 2019, helping the team to a 1-0 friendly win over Tajikistan. Though he was called up in 2021, he didn't see any playing time. Adam knows the competition under new national coach Peter Cklamovski is fierce, with the likes of Dominic Tan, Harith Haiqal, and Shahrul Saad in top form. But he's not letting that dampen his drive. 'My goal this season was simple, which was to get as many minutes as possible and perform,' said Adam. 'When it comes to the national team, it is up to the coaches to decide who fits their plans. 'Of course, I want to be part of Harimau Malaya again. But for now, I will just keep doing my job.' While the Cup slipped from Pahang's grasp, Adam said the team left the pitch with pride. 'Even though we lost, it felt like a win because of how we played. We fought until the very end, and we are satisfied knowing we gave it everything.'

Sri Pahang's Adam: Harimau Malaya will decide if I am worthy
KUALA LUMPUR: With Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) downing Sri Pahang 2-1 to win the Malaysia Cup on Saturday (April 26), the curtains have now come down on the 2024/2025 M-League season. The focus now shifts to the national squad's preparation for their all-important clash with Vietnam in group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers which will also be held at National Stadium, Bukit Jalil on June 10. National team head coach Peter Cklamovski is likely to have a good idea of which players he will call up to the squad. Sri Pahang's determined performance in the final will likely put a number of their players in contention for a spot in the national squad. Sri Pahang defender Adam Nor Azlin is among those hoping to once again pull on the Harimau Malaya jersey after his impressive performance in the Malaysia Cup final. "What I can say is that I did my best to execute what had been planned by our (Sri Pahang) coach (Fandi Ahmad)," said Adam recently. "My goal is to perform as best as I can in each match. I am not the only player who wants to play for the national team. "It is now up to the Harimau Malaya coaches to evaluate and decide which players they want for the team. It is up to them to decide whether I am worthy or not of a place in the squad." The FIFA international matches window will begin on June 2 and will run until June 10. With the M-League now done and dusted, Malaysian players can now fully focus on preparing for the Asian Cup qualifiers.

Reaching Final Still A Big Achievement For Sri Pahang
KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- Sri Pahang FC defender Adam Nor Azlin feels that despite their 2-1 defeat by Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) in the Malaysia Cup final last night, it has still been a massive achievement for the Elephants. He said the supporters themselves can judge their performance which, overall, saw them play with high spirits against the Super League giants and even going 1-0 up in the first half. "Although we lost, we feel that having reached the final is already an achievement. That's why we fought from the start to the end. bootstrap slideshow "Our supporters can judge us however they want but, to me, we will continue to play and perform at the highest level… perhaps we could have focused much better (against JDT). We are definitely disappointed that we lost but that's the name of the game… sometimes you play well but you still lose and sometimes you play badly but still end up winning,' said the former JDT player after the final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil here last night. Sri Pahang, under coach Fandi Ahmad, had earlier stunned JDT when they took a 1-0 lead through winger T. Saravanan in the 14th minute. Undaunted, the Southern Tigers fought back to equalise through prolific marksman Bergson Da Silva in the 54th minute before Arif Aiman Mohd Hanapi sealed their fightback with the winning goal in the 74th minute. Adam, meanwhile, was full of praise for the commitment shown by his teammates in the high-intensity final. "Alhamdulillah, everyone played their best,' he said. Both teams ended up playing with 10 men each after referee Razlan Joffri Ali sent off Sri Pahang striker Sergio Aguero and JDT defender Park Jun Heong.
