I won thousands of pounds at bingo but now I've been told it was a glitch

I won thousands of pounds at bingo but now I've been told it was a glitch 'I can't stop thinking about it because it was going to change our lives' Adam Wall planned to pay for a wedding A Welsh bingo player who believed he had struck gold during a Gala Bingo session, says he's heartbroken after discovering it was all down to a "technical error". The bingo giant has admitted to a "malfunction" that resulted in massive pay-outs, impacting hundreds of participants. ‌ Adam Wall from Deeside was one of numerous Gala Bingo customers affected by the glitch on Monday, August 4. The 45-year-old described witnessing multiple "extra bonuses" while playing, including a notification stating that 797 out of roughly 1,200 players were eligible for "runners up prizes". ‌ Across three games, he collected three £2,400 prizes, totalling £7,200, which he immediately withdrew from his Gala account. ‌ He had planned to use the windfall for a wedding with his long-term partner Samantha. Adam said: "We went to bed that night thinking we were going to go and get married, as we hadn't had the chance in the 10 years we'd been together, and that money made it possible." But his joy turned to devastation when he found the following day that his Gala account had been closed without warning, and his £7,200 had disappeared. To go from winning £7,200 in three hits, it was immense. To be able to turn to my partner and say 'shall we go and get married?'. Then waking up the next day and feeling like I'd been scammed. It's really horrible. "The lack of information, and my account being suddenly closed - instantly I thought I had been scammed. That was my initial thought. ‌ "The last couple of days have been horrible. I can't stop thinking about it because it was going to change our lives, and now it's just not. I'm frustrated, disappointed, down about things and low." Following discussions with Gala Bingo, Adam, who has children, said his account was restored with £67 - approximately £50 more than he had anticipated. He explained that after lodging another complaint, his account was temporarily blocked again, before being reactivated with just £15 and fresh betting limitations that weren't previously in place before the technical fault. ‌ A spokesperson for Gala Bingo said: "We apologise to customers for a technical error which occurred during our Summer Nights Bingo promotion for a short period of time, resulting in all players receiving incorrect payouts. "Our customer Terms and Conditions clearly state that in the event of a malfunction, winnings can be voided. Affected players have been contacted directly with a gesture of goodwill." According to The Mirror, it's thought that thousands of players were mistakenly awarded a portion of the £1.6m prize pot on August 4, with some lucky individuals pocketing as much as £18,000. Players devastated after winning share of £1.6m then Gala Bingo takes it back

Gala Bingo players who had thousands of pounds credited to their accounts were left devastated when they were informed their winnings did not exist. Several players received notifications saying they had won an online bingo game, with some able to withdraw the money. But they were informed there had been a 'technical error' and they would not be receiving the winnings. Emma Wills, a 34-year-old mother of three from London, was mistakenly credited £920. She told Sky News: "I was shocked, I was thinking, 'Oh my gosh, I can take the kids out somewhere nice while they're with me for the holidays, I can pay off a few of my debts, and I can give money for a car,' and obviously that quickly went out the window.' Technician Adam Wall, 45 and from North Wales, added he believed he had won enough money to start planning his wedding after winning £7,200. Those affected by the glitch were playing the Summer Nights Bingo promotion, which costs 1p a ticket and has a maximum prize pot of £150. But the error meant the prize pot increased, and players were instead credited with a share of more than £1.6m over the course of two hours. More than 170 people have joined the Facebook Group 'Justice for Gala Victims' to share their experiences. Players have shared screenshots showing their winnings in the Facebook group, with some apparently receiving prizes of more than £2,000. However, players later received a message that said: 'Unfortunately, due to a technical error on Monday 4 August, your account was incorrectly credited with Bingo winnings.' Some customers affected by the glitch have complained to Gala Bingo, with many receiving £20 in compensation. Gala Bingo has said it has informed the Gambling Commission of the incident and has apologised to those affected. A Gala Bingo spokesperson said: "We apologise to customers for a technical error which occurred during our Summer Nights Bingo promotion for a short period of time, resulting in all players receiving incorrect payouts. 'Our customer terms and conditions clearly state that in the event of a malfunction, winnings can be voided. Affected players have been contacted directly with a gesture of goodwill."

Hendrick Motorsports penalized for violation with Chase Elliott's NASCAR Xfinity car

Following a triple-header weekend at Pocono Raceway, NASCAR chose to take the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet of Chase Elliott and the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota of Christopher with them back to the R&D Center for further inspection. Both cars were fine, but that was not the case for the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet that took part in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday. Chase Elliott was driving the car at Pocono, earning pole position and leading 38 of 100 laps before finishing fourth. But apparently, something was not quite right with the car. Advertisement NASCAR has issued an L1 penalty to Hendrick Motorsports, which fields the No. 17 on a part-time basis in the Xfinity Series. They violated Sections 14.3.3.2.1.1 K&L of the NASCAR Rule Book, which focuses on the main frame rail conical receivers. The team reportedly modified these receivers in some way. Chase Elliott, Chevrolet, Justin Allgaier, JR Motorsports Chevrolet Chase Elliott, Chevrolet, Justin Allgaier, JR Motorsports Chevrolet As a result, Hendrick Motorsports have been assessed the loss of 40 owner points and ten playoff points, but this doesn't impact them much as they aren't competing for the championship in that series. However, they were also fined $40,000 and crew chief Adam Wall has been suspended for the next three races. Advertisement Hendrick have entered the No. 17 in ten (of 16) races so far this year with Elliott, Kyle Larson, William Byron, Alex Bowman, and Corey Day as the drivers. They have two wins, capturing the checkered flag with Larson at Bristol and Byron at Charlotte. Hendrick Motorsports will not appeal the penalties. There were no other issues in this week's penalty report. The No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet (NASCAR Xfinity) of Christian Eckes also went to the R&D Center and like the previously mentioned Cup cars, there were no problems. Elliott finished fourth in that race. NASCAR cited Section 14.3.3.2.1.1.K of the Xfinity Rule Book, which states: "Main frame rail conical receivers will not be permitted to be moved without having the chassis re-certified prior to the Event at which that chassis will compete."
